I just love how all the parts work together...you have that high strings/trumpet part that is 16th notes I think...and then you have that claranet and/or choras part that is all quater notes, and then chords by the low brass...its just so awesome. I love that song. I think it is one of the most powerful of all his scores, besides mabey "Hymn to the Fallen" which is very moving...

I love how the notes keep repeating...just like that Mozart song. John Williams just might be this generation of composers' Mozart!

So, I noticed something interesting last year, and wanted to share it. I haven't seen it mentioned before, but if this is a rehash, forgive me.

I have one of the original one-disc Empire Strikes Back soundtracks (where the music starts with Imperial March, and the opening theme music doesn't come till track 6, which follows the finale music.. really weird setup).

Anyway, on this CD is a track entitled "Training of a Jedi Knight" (track 7). About 20 seconds into it you can hear the five note fugue from Duel of the Fate played by what sounds like an oboe (not certain though). Its amidst Yoda's them, and just prior to a brief appearance of the Imperial March, around 37 seconds in.

While I don't think this is intentional (ie: Williams searchin through old Star Wars tunes for some obscure thing to referance in Duel of the Fates as it's recurring motif), but it sure is neat!

Yeah, I like Duel Of The Fates as well. Each of the prequels has had its own unique version of it. I especially like the version from Attack Of The Clones when Anakin is searching for his mother. And Episode III will have the BEST version ever, probably, when that fateful duel betwenn Anakin and Obi-Wan happens.

I like how Duel of the Fates was used in AOTC too.

I wonder how they would set it up in Episode III.
