I plan on reading them, but is there anything I should know? I realize that they are supposedly great, but I know a few of us like them. *cough, Dave, cough*

You say I am your Mahdi...I say I am your Duke!
Long live Duke Paul Muad'Dib Atredies!
Long live the fighter of Muad'Dib!

    I love DUNE!
Just start reading DUNE and be patient with it and you'll learn to love it.

I hope you love lots of overly-descriptive text, because that's what it is. I could sit through the 4-hour movie but fell asleep after reading the book for 1 minute. I bought the second book but it is now gathering dust. Have fun.

I guess you have to be a bit more mature and patient to appreciate a masterpiece like DUNE. [face_plain]

Indeed. Like Lord of the Rings, it's a book you have to be patient to read. But if you can read it, you'll enjoy it.

I have the Lord of the Rings series too, but I haven't gotten a chance to read it. I got the huge "series in one book" thing that is 1000 pages long. I'm currently using it to prop-up my alarm clock.

That's nothing. I took a book out from the library in '98 and returned it a couple months ago.

I learned my lesson when the library police came and interrogated me and beat me with dictonarys. It was a day long remembered...

I read of a case recently where a girl went on trial for not returning a book to her library...

You'd better. You never know who could be a member of the secret library police. I think our VIP librarian friend is one of them...

I'm not joking. A twelve year old girl brought to court over an overdue book. I believe the fine came out to $1200.

Dune was good. Dune Messiah, also good, but far from the first book. I started Children of Dune, but didn't get far. I always get disstracted by new SW novels.

Star Wars novels only come out every few months. That gives plenty of time for other readings.
