I couldn't get through Dune...my short attention span just made me lose interest.

I do enjoy Ender's Game though. What a quality book.

House Atredies, House Harkonnen and House Corrino are prequals. DOn't read them first. They are good despite what Eric might say(as he hasn't read them).

Most of the time, it is a good idea to read books in the order they were published. They usually publish prequels after the originals.

I haven't read them because I refuse to read them.

And because they have Kevin J. Anderson helping out. His only decent books were written for Young Readers.

Kevin J. Anderson and his wife wrote a Starcraft Book together under the pen name Gabriel Maesta (yes I read Starcraft books). God, I got through two chapters and returned it.

You'd probably change your mind about him if you read this book. I agree with you about him being a not so good author. I read the Jedi Academy Trilogy, it was a test of my fandom! I read all of the books, why? Because I'm a true fan :D :p

Actually, Stephen King wrote a short-story involving the librabry police, and the library policeman ended up.........um..........well, it's a little inappropriate for a thread (PM if you really want to know.)

Its very complicated but there is this one planet in the entire known universe that produced this substance called The Spice Melange and alot of people rely on it including...well, read the book. Everything depends on this one planet called Arrakis, otherwise known as- Dune

I'm just starting to read the Hobbit again. I read it a while back, but that was before my interest in Lord of the Rings was kindled by the movies. You guys seem to be mixed on Dune, some say its good, some say its terrible. I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and give it a chance sometime in the near future.

If anyone says Dune is terrible, they're lying. It may not be the type of book for some people, but it is far from terrible by any definition.

I got this order sheet from a science fiction book club and they are selling leather bound copies of Dune. I think it's the Sci-Fi classics club or something like that.
