Note: I have the "best" edition of all of these movies. So if the movie listed is available in the Criterion collection, that's the version I have. If it's got a special edition, a director's cut, a nice two-disc, set, etc, then that's the edition I have. The exceptions are Amadeus, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, and Starship Troopers, which I haven't upgraded to the newer editions yet, and E.T., where I'm not shelling out for the version with the 1982 version. I'm wondering about Fight Club. There are two DVD releases: A barebones version, and a 2-disc set. I am curious as to whether there are any differences in the actual film (as far as presentation, picture quality, audio, ect) between the singe-disc and the 2-disc?? Basically what I'm asking is, is the single-disc release exactly the same (presentation wise) as disc 1 of the 2-disc release??

Sorry, I don't know. I think the Special Edition is a nice new transfer, but I don't know for sure.

I am definitely a fan of DVD viewing. I'll need to compile a list here soon.

My most recent purchase was the new LOTR SE release. Very nice DVD. Enjoyed experimenting and comparing the DTS with the Dolby Digital soundtrack.

I am also sound freak and I couldn't resist a great deal I've been offered. I am currently moving aside my Sony set up for a new box from Denon:

On the subject of DVD players... does anyone know of any with a DVI-output, other than DVD-ROM equipped PCs (like the new Windows XP Media Center Edition PCs)?
