Ah that was nice viewing!!! I hope this one captavaites like Morrowind did me. I used to love posting in our old Morrowind thread in here. Good times.

Was that Max Von Sydow speaking in the trailer???

 

That's a trailer for a Bethesda game? Really? The same Bethesda that can't make their characters blink let alone animate a decent walking cycle? I was rather impressed with the detailed screenshots but seeing the game in motion is jaw-dropping. I just never expected Bethesda to deliver something that looks so crisp on this generation of consoles!

The new cinematic first-person melee attacks seems to remind me of how Riddick looked, and that's not exactly a terrible game to base a combat system off of.

 

if you read some of the articles i linked, you'd see that they DID realize that. they were just using a modified morrowind engine for oblivion, and got permission for a four year dev cycle instead of two, and only the last six months of that was with the actual hardware the game was going to be played on. considering THAT? i think oblivion still looks amazing.

on another note, in one of the articles (the tech one i think) the conversation system changed. people won't stop and stare at you in a zoomed in stare at their faces. they'll keep working, walking around, etc. if someone's chopping wood, they won't stop just to talk to you, but keep going and glance at you occasionally. and your view won't be locked in, you'll be able to move around some supposedly.

somehow missed this. you won't get as much from the background stuff, or the little nods to previous games and such, but i doubt they'd make a game that you couldn't enjoy almost as much as a die-hard fan of the series.

 

Random thought: the armor at 1:40 in the trailer reminds me of the Nordic Mail Armor from Bloodmoon. If so, yay Bloodmoon! Wonder if Solstheim will appear in the game. Unlikely, but I could see it being DLC. Also, the skeletons in the trailer are Draugrs- also from Bloodmoon

 

Just thought I would share this and this with you. Although that girl playing the harp makes wrong notes in the tune.

 

Ugh, Please tell me this game is still slated to come out in November.

 

I haven't heard anything about a delay. Still slated for 11/11/11 as far as I know.

 

That new gameplay footage looks freaking awesome. I love how the dragons aren't scripted and will attack anyone and anything.* I love the shouts too, it's a nice cinematic spin on the classic magic system. Having a shout to conjure a storm reminds me of Saruman.

*Yes I know Bethesda likes to over-promise and under-deliver when it comes to AI, but we shall see how it turns out.

 

I didn't see the gameplay, yet. I'm still on the fence. I don't think this game will be so amazing it'll blow my face off, but I do think it'll be one of the bigger, standout games of '11.

 

I applaud Bethesda for not integrating voice recognition in Kinect with the Dragon Shouts.

holy crap that is huge. for those without patience skip to about 2:05. but you really don't get the sense of scale without watching the whole thing.

 

Now is there more customization with your character than Oblivion?
