Hou, TX The end has come (A farewell to the Houston Fanforce)

As with all things, we have reached an ending. I am as of now officially resigning my City Rep position. Houston is a great city and we have had many good years together. However, if the FF is to continue, it will need someone to provide leadership and direction (and to spend the time) moreso than I have been able to the last year-and-a-half. I have enjoyed working with you all and I appreciate the vote of confidence that you had in me to nominate and support me in the role of CR.

I would like to give special thanks to a few people. First to Tim (weaves) who paved the way for us to have a FF. Also special thanks to all our FF officers: Laura (Queenie Amidala), Renee (crystala), Charles (Fingorfin), Doug (slowmo) and Allen (Rockettfett). And I'd also like to thank Brian (merlin) for designing our original banner.

So what now? Well, that's it for the Space City Trade Federation. However, the Houston board will remain open for as long as the JC does. So, if anyone wishes to use this board to plan a SW activity, feel free. Also, the Houston Fanforce can be resurrected if there are other people who are willing to take on that responsiblity. It doesn't matter when -- next week, month, or year -- the board will be here when Houston is ready.

I'll try to keep this brief since I've already mentioned this in a ranting post to another tangentially related thread. I would just like to make it known that I'm very interested in contributing to the reconstitution of a viable Houston Fan Force chapter. I'm just putting this out there to see if anyone else is interested in get-togethers/events whatever else we could put together as an organized group. Nothing too formal of course, it would just be another social outlet and way to have fun. I am excited; however, about the idea of politically engaged Star Wars geeks getting together to blow off steam and rant to each other about real concerns too, that would be neat.
If all this just ends with a few cups of coffee or some bowling, or rowdy trips to everyone's favorite bars or anything else that's good too. I'll check back to see if anyone's up for it, or you can e-mail me directly at not_too_amused@yahoo.com. Thanks.

 

I would be interested depending on when and wear we would meet. I work retail so Saturdays are hard to get time off.
