    I don't think I posted this in here, but I actually did look into hiring a 3rd party company to export the data for us so we could get out of Dodge ASAP and negate having to wait for IGN to get everything ready. It was actually the same company IGN hired to extract our test data last year.

    It didn't work out though. At one point, I was on a conference call with their rep and one of the developers and they went into this whole story about how extracting the forum data from IGN's servers was this long and complicated process that involved setting up a separate test server and running a bunch of custom-written scripts that necessitated lots of man-hours. I'm sure it all would have eventually worked, but they wanted to charge us thousands of dollars for all that. At the time, I didn't have an extra 10 grand lying around, so I told them "Thanks, but no thanks".

    So I guess we don't actually need the services of a third-party company like the one you mentioned for the data export in order to get it done, right? Just that it would have been quicker and easier?

    Correct. IGN is already willing to do it for free, we just have to wait for them to get it done.

    Are we going to be able to have our banners still. or will it look like any other board.

    I don't want different emoticons. A few new additions is fine, but I hate how I go on other messageboards these days and there are so many I can't even figure out what they mean.

    Happy New Year! To all the mods and all the admins and techies who've forged ahead through snowbanks of choices. 2012 shall be splendid, I predict. Also, as I'd mentioned earlier, XenForo is a more Star-Warsy name than the other one.
