Though different angles of the villains have been addressed, I'd like to offer a counter proposal:

What if the Jedi and Sith have to join forces against a new threat?

I do not mean an unholy, happy-go-lucky arrangement.

I'm also not talking about NJO per se.

What if the threat is from the netherworld?

Both adherents to the Force in the living world stand to lose from an encroachment back into their domain?

 

This was discussed elsewhere before, I do't know exactly, but I think in the netherworld thread. It could work, but IMHO only in the real world, with new Sith, because I can't see how they could make it work that the ghost of Sidious would work with Jedi, he was portrayed as pure evil, in contrast to Dooku and Anakin (and if you consider TCW, also Maul).
