Beyond - Legends The En'Tra'Sol Chronicles: Before the Dawn

The following is the beginning of a six part series. The series, known as the En'Tra'Sol Chronicles, takes place just a few months before Vector Prime, and ends sometime after The Unifying Force.

It is modeled on my ongoing NJO campaign for the Star Wars RPG, in which I'm the GM. I hope you enjoy. It is long.

Prologue: Drive

Faith in the Force is pointless if you lack faith in yourself.

The words stung. The statement wasn?t another generic truism. It was an indictment. And yet, Kuag wasn?t sure if it was a jab at him. After all, there were five other students standing before Master Skywalker. And yet those piercing blue eyes were focusing intently on him. Perhaps it was because of the conditions with which Kuag had come to the Jedi academy on Yavin IV. Or perhaps it was because of Kuag?s intimidating appearance. Or maybe it was because Master Skywalker saw something deep down inside him, and knew that Kuag needed to hear those words.

Whatever the reason for his stare, Kuag shuddered. It wasn?t a reaction of fear as much as it was a reaction of realization; a realization that his past, no matter how hard he tried, would never leave him. And because of that, he knew that his future was uncertain.

Kuag was an enigma. His large Coynite frame, muscular build, prominent brow ridges and facial plating, and the thick mane that hung off his scalp, gave the impression that he was some wild, untamed beast.

Perhaps that?s exactly what I am.

He was out of place. He didn?t belong at the Jedi academy. In fact, the Jedi academy was the last place he should be. One of the other students, a young and lanky human, kept glancing at Kuag, as if he feared that the Coynite would spring upon him like some Dathomirian predator tracking unsuspecting prey. Aside from the fact that Kuag stuck out like a worrt?s tongue, he was also the oldest of his student group. His peers were still in their early or mid teenage years, or at least Kuag assumed as much. He still hadn?t figured out human physiology. Kuag was in his early twenties and already had a great deal of life experience.
