You don't need to go that far Al.
Just stick 'em on Tattooine for a decade, they'll age fast.
Wow, we're spoiling the ending of Episode 9 already.
I keep saying skip to Episode 13, do a trilogy, then back to Episode 10 and the ST cast will have aged maybe almost 15 years by the time they hit it. But noooooo always looking to the Episode X as the very next one.
The recent X-Men movies are doing just fine putting young looking James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicolas Hoult, etc into films where the characters of Xavier, Magneto, and Beast should be far older than they look.
Oh heavens no I wasn't referring to you when I said that! No, you actually come here and post real conversations about the stories, and you explain why you like or don't like a story. Your focus isn't hating on someone else and hounding other people across multiple threads because they disagreed with something you liked/didn't like. There's a difference between arguing why Plot ABC is dumb vs Poster ABC's opinions are dumb and they should feel bad.
I'm going to actually one-up Coffee, and say that you can even find someone's opinions on a particular topic unbearable without having to feel like they're a bad person who you can never talk to about anything else.
So... casting news!
First and foremost, there are new rumors that Billy Dee will actually return. We can only hope... his complete absence from the ST so far is still one of the biggest marks against it. There are also a few rumors that the movie will open with Leia's funeral and that will be where Lando will appear, but that's also contradictory with other rumors that Leia will actually have some role in the movie... so I think it's a case of no one actually knowing either way.
But there's a recent Variety article that claims:
Filming begins end of the month (we knew it would be July, but not when)
Keri Russell (who worked with Abrams on Felicity - which I believe is the only "Abrams show" where Abrams was seriously involved in) has been cast
Two more big casting announcements will be made prior to the start of filming
Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver are all confirmed to return (not that I think any of those were in doubt)
They said that about TLJ and that it would begin with Han's funeral, and that's why everyone was dressed up fancy in dark clothes... and it ended up being Canto Bight.
But yeah it would suck if Leia just spontaneously died between the films. They'll say it was either a broken heart or space sickness from her flying episode. Which would be a poor excuse, because they clearly did Space!Leia when Carrie was alive with the intent the character would survive.
Beckett pushed her off a ledge.
I still like the idea from the rumor of the TLJ having Han's funeral on Corellia, even though it wouldn't really make a lot of sense from a realistic standpoint. I remember at the time thinking it was a good way to not only bring back Lando, but also introduce characters or places that would retroactively be in Solo. Oh well...
And actually for all the "let's make sure that we include XYZ from Han's life story" that Solo did, I actually wouldn't have minded Maz being in the movie too.
Yeah, I was 99% sure Maz Kanata would be in Solo... it's such an easy, logical way to tie everything together...
Speaking Solo/Lando and Episode IX, if Lando is in Ep IX, it would be fantastic if we get another moment of him recording the Calrissian Chronicles. 40+ years later and he's still perfecting it.
I want Lando to have a family.
nah the love of Lando's life had her brain hardwired into the Falcon.
I forgot, do we trust Hollywood Reporter? I can't keep track which of these news outlets is more rumormill and which is legit.
Can I break out the party favors now?
Don't trust it anymore than "there's an Obi-wan/Lando/Boba Fett movie, confirmed!!" / "all spinoffs are on indefinite hold" / "look at these leaked photos of Kylo Ren on Ach-To to fight Luke and Rey"
I'll wait until it's official.
Hollywood Reporter is very trustworthy. It’s them, Variety, the Wrap, Deadline and (occasionally) the Tracking Board. If any of these outlets report on anything, its 99.99% accurate. I'd also put Omega Underground in the there, too.
So, what the odds we get a good story for Lando?
Booooooo. Boo to that. He's had thirty or forty years to find someone(s) else. Love can happen more than once, especially if you're a charming guy like Lando.

Hollywood Reporter is confirmation. The "all spinoffs on hold!" came from a far less reputable source.
So, yay! Lando! Hot damn!
Was it true that an early draft of TLJ had Lando become a villain, essentially having the role DJ had in the final product?
I'll be honest, if they'd done that, it'd have pushed me into the "Yeah, they're just being mean to the OT characters now" camp...
I don't know if it every made it to the script stage but I believe Johnson said at one point in story development it was Lando instead of DJ. they dropped it because they realized having Lando betray people again would seem regressive so they made DJ.
Honestly, Casino Planet, I would have been okay if Lando was a Holo-slots machine. Or the Master Codebreaker. (I do love the Master Codebreaker we got, though, still makes me laugh but it might have been even funnier if it was the exact same scene EXCEPT with Lando! "Oop, not now, Lovey, I'm on a roll." seems like it totally could have been a Lando line)
That’s not “confirmation” then. It’s another rumor from a more reputable source. It’s not confirmation until it’s officially released info by Disney/LFL.
I do want to see Lando and DJ on screen together, though.
Okay, it's not confirmed by LFL but it's been confirmed by one of the movie industries pinnacle papers of record which is as close to confirmation as it's going to get before LFL confirms it. But, yah, Billy Dee as Lando is happening, officially. Just not officially by LFL yet. But it's official.
