JCC the ethics of fact to fiction crime dramas

Hi

I was going through the newspaper archives through my university and I found several articles relating to the use of the 1993 murder of Jamie Bulger in the UK as a basis for fictional crimes.

His family is quite upset but from what i read they have no real way of legally fighting back.

I have relatives in the entertainment industry here in Oz and they tell me that there are tentative moves to make telemovies about Australian child murder victims Daniel Morcombe and Sheree Beasley.

Should a line be drawn?

I have some profound statements to accompany my getting up at 4:30 am in the morning to sell Go Set a Watchman and it involves Harper Lee and Truman Capote being overy inflated douchebags. My comentary will follow at around 4pm est and will be entitled ¡Tequila Mockingbird!

I can't recall ever reading To Kill a Mockingbird.

 

Getting back to the subject, I'm not sure about where such a line should be drawn. All I know is that the writing staff for all of the "Law & Order" shows pretty much swore by the practice. They just saw whatever was making headlines in the New York Post, changed a couple of names, and there was the script for the week.

And, re: "Go Set a Watchman", based on the reviews I've read, I'm surprised no one has yet said, "Harper Lee raped my childhood."

 

The SJWs on Tumblr would be all over them for that.
