The appearance of the Caamasi would be a nice touch, given that they are my favorite EU aliens. They amy even show a part of the destruction of Caamas, which takes place 19 BBY. I hope Garm Bel iblis makes an appearance.

I'm thinking the EU character will be either the ARC trooper or a background Jedi character.

I wish we didn't know there was going to be an EU character, to see if the bashers would know the difference. [face_mischief]

Didn't RM say there wouldn't be any ARC troopers in one of his HS chats though?

No, it was only an indicator as to the character's actual gender.

    ARC-Troopers are still a likelihood.

I did a thread last year that if I could find would be intresting to link to from this one. Basically, it had to do with the EPIII novelization. In the TPM novelization there were like two chapters of purely nothing but EU material before we reached the first chapter of the book to get into movie material. In the AotC novelization, the number of chapters of purely EU material before reaching any movie material rose to four. So how many chapters of purely EU material in the EPIII novelization will there be before we reach movie material?

The first two Prequel novelizations set up a potential pattern of doubling the chapters prior to the first chapter dealing with the movie. So if this potential pattern plays out, we should see eight purely EU chapters opening the EPIII novelization. Yet they also set up a second potential pattern of just adding two chapters of purely EU material to the number used to open the last novelization, which would then make six opening the EPIII novelization if this potential pattern plays out. But as I said, their both merely potential patterns. The next novelization may open with movie material and follow the second two original trilogy novelizations in not opening with purely EU material but movie material. Or it may drop down to one to three purely EU chapters, maintain four purely EU chapters, open with five purely EU chapters, or even seven purely EU chapters. Or the first chapter could be any where from an eighth to three quarters purely EU long and then get into movie material.

A thing that has been bugging me for a while has been

What will Padme's name be in Ep III

    Will it be
    1) Padme Naberrie Skywalker

    or

    2) Padme Naberrie Amidala Skywalker

How about Padme Skywalker? It's simple it's legal, that's all.

Amaidala is a name that was bestowed upon her. It's not her given name. Padme Naberrrie is.

On TOS in the Databank for Ep II it lists her name as Padme Amidala also throughout Ep II it recognises her as such "He's escorting Senator Amidala home" "If only Senator Amidala were here"

i just posted this as a new topic but it was locked and i was guided here.

Just sonething i was thinkin when i heard the news:-

Rumours currently suggest that Chewie and other wookies will fight along side General Kenobi, and help deliver the twins to safety.

Now, I can envisage the scene in the cantina where Chewie tells Han he must help the old man as he owes him a favour or something. but for Chewie to live till VP as guardian of the Skywalker/Solo family without ever mentioning his previous involvment with Luke and Leia, thats something else.

My worry is that we're gonna see an onslaught of Tatooine Ghost style books. I liked the book, and thought it helped tie the two eras together. But how many stories of 'we found this out ages ago, but never mentioned it and pretended it never happened' can we stomach.

I believe the OT EU continuity between ROTJ and VP is in danger of being flooded with barely-swallowable continuity-'fixing' pap.

    What are other peoples thought?

Tatooine Ghost was nesesary thought. They needed a book to cover leia's forgiveness of anakin.

I wouldnt have a problem with more of those types of books filling in stuff that may of been missed.

Yes, Tatooine Ghost was necessary. But how keen was Leia to learn about Shmi. Now compare that to the BFC where she's determined not to follow Luke on his quest to meet their mother, and not a mention of Shmi. Yes, it was way before EpI, but it does jar me a little.

As things stand now in the NJO, how much to the OT heroes nows. Theres been a few references to the PT, but for example, do the know about the Naboo embargo, or ever heard of Qui-Gon.

Yeah, although TG was made to create continuity, it ruined continuity concerning the BFC. I hate the BFC.

BFC was pretty bad no doubt. But once a book is written, certain character traits will pass over to other books until soon enough we feel that characters feelings on a subject are pretty well set in stone. I.e. Leia's disapproval of Luke delving into their family history....again. It's obvious, in later books also, that Leia wants to bury her familys past and get on with her life and that of her children.

Just a slight conflict between the two characters then, especially considering the 8 yr gap since she found 'peace' in TG.

Brilliant choices, master Chbel. Maybe Episode III will finally show whether or not Caamasi have those weird tapir-like noses. That detail has been bugging me since ETAS came out.

I think Leia's disapproval of Luke's quest for his mother in BFC had less to do with negative feeling toward her family history than with her opinions towards Anakah Pell and her claims. Tatooine Ghost is set before Leia became Chief of State, and before she had to suffer an endless stream of impersonators, frauds, and lunatics claiming to be related to her. Luke was spared this, and here he was with yet another one of these hangers-on. Leia disapproved, and she was justified--Anakah was just as much a fraud as any of the others. So I think that TG still works well with the BFC.

As for Chewbacca fighting alongside Obi-Wan Kenobi, well, that's nothing new. Atticituk and Chewbacca fought with Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon to defend Alaris Prime from the Trade Federation just before TPM. Chewie knew Qui-Gon personally. If Chewbacca does indeed deliver the Skywalker twins, yeah, that could be a little odd, considering that no one seems to know anything about it later on. But that sort of thing is nothing new; Leia knew and fought with Atticituk before she was rescued by his son on the Death Star. What are the chances of that?

And Qui-Gon seems to been known to all the original trilogy characters. Chewie met him years before, Obi-Wan told Han a story about Jinn in Tales (which is, admittedly, Infinities), Leia doesn't bat an eye when Shmi mentions him, and Luke seems to have a holocron with the names of prequel-era Jedi by the NJO.

Since Rick confirmed the EU character is from the cartoon, I think it's pretty obvious either Durge or Ventress will be in Ep.III. Probably Ventress. Before I doubted it, but after reading that little tidbit from one of Rick's online chats, I'm pretty sure she will.

Anakin gets burned to a crispy critter apparently, and loses half a leg.

He's well on his way towards being "more machine than man."
