Which is why you'd want to come to Belgium. All the good things about France, without the pesky French to ruin it.

Though our PM isn't nearly as dashing as Macron, I suppose.

I'll have you know that we have nothing in common with those cheese-eating-"protestant"-heretics. Bad food, bad beer, bad people!

No, they're good. My favourite comics are Belgian - no comic is funnier than a Belgian one. My favourite beers are Belgian. And this is Belgian:

Which countries do the Germans consider as a trustworthy partner for Germany?

The percentage on the left column is "we can trust" and the right column is "we can't trust". I don't think I need to translate the countries names.

I saw that yesterday when it was covered in German tv news. I want to add that back in November 2016, at the time Trump was elected, 59% believed that the US were trustworthy. But now, just 7 months later, the US is tied with Russia. I had to laugh my *** off.

There are more Europeans than there are Americans, and the EU combined has a larger economy than America's. If Europeans really think Donald Trump represents such a dire threat to the world, then they should unite to stop us. Throw in Canada, Australia, and all of Latin America, and you can outvote us at the U.N. every time. Even if those votes don't necessarily mean much, the weight of all the world's democracies speaking together would be impossible to ignore.

First off, not really. 2016's numbers show 16.5T Europe vs. 17.95T for US.
Second, do you really think that shows a lot for the EU to be "relatively close" to one other country? And China's catching up.

The US is 25% of the world's nominal GDP.

If you go to PPP, the EU is slightly larger than US, but dwarfed by China. Not great for you.

It's only going to get worse when the UK leaves (worse for the UK than the EU at large possibly).

Today were the first round of the French legislative elections, surprisingly enough Macron's party is set to get a large majority in the Assembly.

I think my overall point still stands. Either the world's remaining democracies band together and fill in the void left by America...or the world is going to hell.

Omdat de Oranjes geen kaas gegeten hadden van regeren. Wij Willen Willem Weg. TRIEST.

Well, it's not that surprising if you take into account the way the French system works and combine that with the huge voter apathy in the non-Macron camp. Only around 48% of French voted and of those that voted only 32% voted Macron, but given the FPP-style system that gives Macron a ridiculous majority from only having gotten around 15% of possible vote.

Helmut Kohl has passed away. Wasn't perfect, but still an immense figure in reuniting Germany and forming the European Union.
