I remember my mother buying me this at the cinema where we saw the film:

I'll pop the other scans in a spoiler window simply to stop from swamping the page with images

I got that one, too! And the one for ROTJ, also gotten at the theater. And, years later, a friend gave me the one for ANH, back before it was ANH.

    Ah, those were the days...

Yeah I have the tattered remains of the Star Wars one, missing the front cover - it was a pretty substantial book/magazine.

In 1979 I bought this in a store in the Netherlands:

It's looking a little the worse for wear, but I've had it a long time.

At a county fair back in 1977, I got the C-3PO buckle and my brother Bri got the R2-D2 one. Years later, Bri gave me his buckle, so now I have both.

Years later, at the MST3K Conventio Con I, I was wearing the C-3PO buckle when I got Trace Beaulieu's autograph. He remarked about the buckle and I told him the story. He answered, "You luck!"

This trend towards "8-bit style" action figures puzzles me, because it's mostly a cash grab ("Let's repaint this Jason figure to how he looked in the Friday the 13th NES Game to make a variant!"). but this. although making sense, is still kinda silly:

Anybody seen the previews for IDW\s new Micronauts and Rom: Spaceknight comics? I kinda like this cover:

THEY CAME FROM A DYING UNIVERSE!

(If that's okay with everybody, this can be the default place to talk about Hasbro's "cinematic universe" that will include ROM, Micronauts, MASK, and Visionaries, unless developments warrant it its own thread.)

About right. If you were born in the late 70's and 80's you were part of the TV generation. We had so much content, and not only did we have the new content of the time, but we had the content of our parents too. Kids don't have the kind of access we did. They can watch it sure, on Boomerang or Youtube. For us it was just there, though.

Kids don't know what it's like to go to Grandma's house and have to watch I LOVE LUCY or Andy Griffith.

Thinking back to that time, and thinking how far removed you are from it now. Was this 30 year old body really apart of the 80's?
