My friend Paul got these, but I got the "Space:1999" comlocks. Sadly, they're long gone now...

I wish all the walkie-talkies that me and my brothers had when we were kids worked as well the ones in that commercial.

The ones we had were excellent at transmitting and receiving static.

Anybody else ever join one of those record clubs? You know, "Get 6 records or tapes for the price of 1!" I was a member of the RCA record club--Columbia House was the big rival--and if memory serves me correctly, the cassettes I eventually purchased were:
    The Cars The Cars
    The Cars Candy-O
    The Cars Panorama
    The Cars Shake It Up
    The Police Regatta de Blanc
    The Police Outlandos d'Amour
    The Police Zenyatta Mendotta
The Police Ghost in the Machine
    AC/DC Back in Black
The Gap Band The Gap Band III
    The Clash Combat Rock
The Brothers Johnson Light Up the Night
    Rick James Street Songs
    The Rolling Stones Tattoo You
    J. Geils Band Freeze-Frame
    Vangelis Chariots of Fire soundtrack
    Oingo Boingo Only a Lad

Now I'm flashing back to when 11 year old me joined a similar club for what I thought was only for 1 cent, not knowing what kind of bill my mom would get when the second shipment came.[face_blush]

COMPNOR Yes! I became an Elton fan back in the early 90s, but couldn't afford all of his classic albums. Then, I discovered those record clubs. They allowed me to collect Elton's full discography. :)

Coach Finstock should been more prominently displayed in that picture because he was IMHO the unsung hero of that championship Beaver team. When Scott turn into the wolf, he let have free reign even though #23 had been their best player and ball handler up to that point. When the team was down and needed a spark, he let Chubby shoot shy hooks from the top of the key. Most coaches would not let their center drift out that far and shoot back then alone throw a couple sky hooks but that was the kind of coach Bobby Finstock. Truly was ahead of his time. Honorable mention should go to #45 for the Beavers. He was the only one to do the dirty work especially in the championship game. Getting rebounds over three guys, throwing in miss shots mostly by Scott, boxing out Nick etc. They never would been able to make that now historic famous comeback without him. :p

My grandpa Monington had one of these on his desk for many, many years, and actually used it. My brother Pat keeps it now.
