Senate The Expanded Universe Senate

All is well on the day that the Chancellor come Emperor come Sith Lord, Darth Insipid, anointed for his 'gift' to the Senators that serve at his pleasure. But there is tension in the air, as if the Sith Lord will, once again, make an attempt to impose another set of draconian terms upon the Senate. After having extended his term, is there anything this man will not do? Seizing upon the discord following the Move between star systems... starting not one but two Civil Wars just to appease his lust for power...

And then, it happens.

The great pyramid that surrounded the old Senate building - the Palace - rumbles, and then begins to, inexplicably, shrink. Retreating into the ground, the transparisteel faces of the four-sided Palace are vanishing, revealing not the old dilapidated building that had been ravaged and abandoned, but an entirely regenerated exterior, gleaming eternally like the light that is democracy and justice.

The Palace is gone.

The Senate is back.

And so an Emperor's term ends... not with violence, not with madness, but with the calm and enlightened act of a benevolent dictator, ceding power back to his people. To all of his people.

 

Now ain't that turn for the books?
