Question: @DarthIntegral -- I don't see specifics around rosters, i.e. can any player hit in any slot? Can starting pitchers be in the bullpen? I'm more used to a roto/fantasy draft where there are slots we have to fill, but I can't see that here (per se)?

 

1885 is as far back as the sim goes (i asked earlier).

 

i actually have a question along the lines of dp4m's. is there flexibility in what positions you can play players? just for example, say you drafted alex rodriguez from one of his yankees seasons, could you play him at shortstop or would you be limited to playing him at 3rd base since that's the only position he played during the year in question?

Edit: since I love you all, I checked from Mobile.

Position players have full flexibility. You can start anyone anywhere. I just simmed my Ultimate Cleveland team with Manny at SS, Nap Lajoie catching, and Omar in the outfield.

Having said that, you do have to have at least one of each Catcher, 1b, 2b, SS, and 3b on your roster, plus at least three OF.

Only starting pitchers can start. And the game will not use a starting pitcher in relief. You have to have a minimum of six pitchers on your roster. To meet the roles of this game, at least four starters.

The remainder of the roster is up to you

@DarthIntegral , does this also count for 1B because he played that position (or even 3B though... not many times) or only OF because that's the season I'm picking?

 

The way it works is when I fill out your roster, I have to select at least one player at every specified position before I can fill out utility slots. So you need to draft a third baseman, even if you're planning on playing Yastremski there.

Right, I'm saying he literally played 3B in his career (a lot more at 1B, so that's more the question). Similar to ARod as 3B or SS, I guess?

 

I'll have to check and see what he qualifies for that season .
