and dp used all of his number one picks on starting pitchers.

still ended up with a fine team, i just think the different strategies are interesting.

I mean, Clemens (1997), Unit (2001), and Pedro (1997) would basically pitch a team to the playoffs by themselves...

    In other words...

oh yeah, i think it clearly worked out for you. you still ended up with a pretty beastly infield too. relievers are kind of a mixed bag and you're a little thin at catcher and in the outfield, but you had to sacrifice somewhere to build that pitching staff. a big part of my strategy was theorizing that pitching would be easier to come by than truly elite position players. i think the jury's still out. it's interesting though, i offered you my pick in the yankees round for your first pick in round 15 and you turned it down. i wonder if you'd make the trade now that we know the players turned out to be mickey mantle and randy johnson? frankly i wouldn't, and as it turns out i'm glad we didn't make that deal.

that's about how many i'm choosing between. it's maddening.

Can we get a clarification for POST-25th pick?

When the FA period starts, is it FCFS or will everything be PM'd to you and you do everything at once? Because I'm leaving for Asia tomorrow...

Also, one presumes that of the teams not picked, for FA period we cannot add from those teams, because any added player in FA must be from the team we are dropping from?

deepee - I'm planning on a whole post about how the 25th "round" works to explain any odd mechanisms.

Free agency will be "First Come, First Serve"

However, if you get a player in the 25th "round" from, say, the Royals you can add/drop for another Royal. But, you couldn't add/drop for, say, a Rockie.

Going sentimental more than best pick available (not that this is a bad pick at all) with Gary Carter, 1982.

    Amazing.

Okay. Let's clear a few things up on Round 25 and Free Agency

    Round 25

To start with, each GM will PM me one player they want to select. Player is eligible if:
    • They have not been drafted
    • Different Franchise of the Same Player is OK
After 24 hours or after all 8 PMs, I will review. Player will be awarded to the GM if:
    • No Other Player selected that player/franchise Combo
All GMs who were not awarded a player will submit again. You cannot submit for a player that was requested previously in this round, even if that player was not awarded. In this case. Different franchise versions are still ok. After another 24 hours or after all submissions are in, I will award based on the same criteria. We will repeat until either all 8 GMs have a player or you tried five times and failed to acquire a player. One will be given to you.

    Add/Drop/Free Agency

    • Free agency will be open until the start of the season.
    • You can only add/drop from the same franchise. This counts for "Round 25" players as well
    • (I kind of want to call them "Rule 25 Players" to mirror "Rule 5" Players in Baseball. Just had that thought)
    • No Add/Drops after season starts
    • Trades between teams can occur until the first game after the all-star break
    • You can PM me an Add/Drop request in advance. If two GMs ask for the same player, I will give it to the GM who picked later in that round. I will only post one of your PMed requests every 8 hours, so rank them in order of preference.

    All-Star Game

    • I will put together a team of non-drafted or ineligible (multi-claim Rule 25) Players
    • They will go up against Your All-Stars
    • I expect Cubman's fans to stuff the ballot box, but I'll try to pick out a "deserving" team.

    That clear everything up?

So glad that Raines got drafted. Overlooked only because he was contemporary to Ricky Henderson.

Ok. Time for the Rule 25 Draft. Everyone has up to 24 hours to pm me their one pick. Review the spreadsheet for list of players already taken (I'll update tonight when I'm not on mobile)
