i never thought i'd find myself this interested in when darthtunick would get out of bed.

also inty i have a question about the sim. does it factor in defensive stats? and along those lines if you play a player out of position (ie manny at shortstop) will the sim punish you with errors and such?

 

Yes. The sim factors in defense. Every position player has a Field score and a Range Score, graded on a school scale. For example, Omar Vizquel in 1998 has an A+ field score and a B- Range score, 1962 Willie Mays has an A in Field and an A+ in Range, and 2009 Adam Dunn has a D in field and a D- in range.

From what I've been able to garner, playing someone at a "similar" position results in about a half-letter deduction. So playing 1998 Vizquel at 2nd base would result in him going from an A+ to an A. Playing someone completely out of position results in about a full letter deduction. So playing 2009 Adam Dunn at Shortstop would result in him having an F for Fielding. 2nd base/SS/3rd Base are "similar" positions. Everything else seems to be out of position.
