It was either Space Invaders on a PET computer that my sister brought home from school for a couple of days, or CENTIPEDE which i played with a credit for the arcade at our local town mall that i got as a Halloween treat. Both happened around the same time.

Duck Hunt. I can still remember my sister telling me not to have the gun against the screen because that was cheating.

The first game I ever played was DOOM on the PC back in like, 1995 or 1996. I was about 4 years old. Yes, I played DOOM when I was that young and still turned out okay (I think.) To this day, easily one of my favorite and most beloved series ever. Just recently finished playing DOOM II once again. Never gets old and never will.

First I ever played... you could technically say it was one of those young kids educational computer games from when I was like 3 or 4, but the first REAL video game I played was Super Mario Sunshine, when I got a Gamecube for Christmas when I turned 5. Never finished it though... I'm almost afraid to, lol.

some... silly game involving a gopher or woodchuck on the commodore 64 back when i was 2 in 1987. or if you want a more... normal game than that one was, SMB on the original NES when you still had to blow out the carts.

    the first Mario on Nintendo.

Duck Hunt was 2nd and just a few minutes later. They were both on the same cartridge.

Oh man ... so many hours playing that one, listening to Soundgarden and other 90's rock. Great memories. I loved Doom II because there were levels that were sort of like cities.

    Double barrel shotgun, baby!

I miss those Sierra adventure games - the Quest for Glory series was my favorite, and Gabriel Knight had an amazing story and atmosphere!

I remember when the family 486 with 4 mb RAM was like a supercomputer.

    This thread is fun :)

Exactly this. Except it was my dad, not my sister.

I just hated that laughing dog so much, I thought I could justify the cheating.

YES!!! Spot on! Great memories indeed! The double barrel shotgun was arguably one of the greatest of things to ever happen to the DOOM series.

You're absolutely right, the DOOM II levels just seemed so much more fun to run around, they just felt "bigger and better". Final DOOM also boasted excellent levels. Great games all!

I still am perplexed when I see how graphics evolved. However, I think I did enjoy old games more...
I think it is sad children who are born today will never see the evolution of graphics as we saw it.

Yeah, I plan on keeping an old TV so I can hook up the old NES and SNES to show the kids (when I have them). I'm anticipating perplexed looks.
