Yeah, and? There were some pretty big celebrations for VE Day too, but guess what, there was a war in the Pacific to finish up as well.

At the end of Jedi, the Empire has been dealt a crushing blow. The Death Star is so much space rubble, and with both Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader dead, their command structure lies in ruins. On the other hand, the Rebels are surging, having just scored their biggest victory to date. The movie leaves it on a high note and lets people assume that things were going to be awesome from there on out. Even though they cut the head off of the proverbial snake, the Empire was still a massive, sprawling enterprise full of power hungry dudes. It’s easy to imagine that in the wake of Return of the Jedi, that it splintered into different cells and factions as new leaders rose and tried to take over.

Those celebrations were probably followed shortly afterwards by legions of stormtroopers gunning down all those people.

The regional governors that A New Hope specified had "direct control of their territories" wouldn't just give up that control because an Emperor they'd probably seen once and likely never spoke to blew up. They have everything they need to hold their position. Troops. Ships. Weapons. You name it, the Empire did not go down after that fight. Again, the old Marvel comics didn't depict that, the EU didn't depict that, and the new canon doesn't, either. Nothing has ever shown Return of the Jedi resulting in the immediate and unequivocal defeat of the Empire, ever.

well JJ is a Spielberg fanboy, so he tries to imitate Speilberg with Super 8 and now Lucas with Episode VII imitating Episode IV.:p

There's really not that much that would make TFA seem like an imitation of ANH.

I am not having an engagement but the End of Return of the Jedi always said to me the Empire was gone and with the addition of Special Edition showing the galaxy celebrating including the central capital.

The opening crawl and ending of A New Hope would also suggest the Empire was gone had they not made any more movies. But then they did.

There are hundreds of thousands of Great White sharks still alive after the end of Jaws, so one could easily come up with hundreds of thousands of logical sequels to Jaws.

really I feel like there are plenty plenty of things that's like ANH all over again, which is why JJ makes sense since he's a safe choice.I look forward to Johnson's vision over JJs.

A New Hope talked about the Emperor and showed Darth Vader escaping.
Return of the Jedi killed the Emperor and his right hand man and showed Luke Skywalkers Planet the Galactic Capital Naboo and Bespin all celebrating.

When government's leaders die, or there is a coupe, your going to have in-fighting, and in the end the people suffer. In your original post in this thread you said you wanted deep.

Other than Rey coming from a desert planet, albeit a much crappier one than Luke with a different background, I don't see much there. It seems more different than similar, a lot of the similarities sound similar on paper but have thus far appeared to be different in execution.

there is a lot more than just Rey and the desert, that's just one little similarity out of many.
