The most tragic ship by far was Threepio/Ellie. Threepio's blank stare at the end of the issue after Ellie self-destructed was just heartbreaking...

It was a joke. This thread is full of jokes made in far worse taste than that?it was simply making sport of an old contention that no one here really gets riled up about much anymore. Lighten up a bit!

What is wrong with Winter/Ackbar or Corran/the Selonian, precisely? Two sapient, cultured beings deciding to engage in a relationship is somehow wrong? It's not. It's... it's rather nice, IMHO.

 

Different species, different anatomies. And also, what would their kids be like?

 

Who says it has to be about sex? Or rather, just sex? Ackbar is intelligent, cultured and would probably get along great with Winter, who is also a great lady. Same with Corran and the Selonian. It's not all... down there, so to speak.

 

Oh now, with that I completely agree. There's no problem at all.

But I'm just saying, IF they wanted to engage in, er, something more, then come the anatomical difficulties.

 

No doubt by the time we actually do have contact with other intelligent species, we will all be horrible racists (and frankly, who knows what else. There will probably be several new types of -ists in the future).

But since we know of no intelligent alien species, a human/non-humaniod sexual or romantic relationship reeks amusingly of bestiality.

 

It's always got to be Tsavong Lah/ Seef for me.

Although to clarify, Selonians and Mon Calamari are still humanoid, since they have two arms, two legs and walk upright.

And depending on what you read or believe about aliens/extraterrestrials, people have already had "very close encounters" with a number of different species.
