Yes, something close to my heart.

So what's your favourite northern nosh. Got any good recipes?

Well, I felt that a North food thread would not be right unless it started with the humble black pudding. And as someone from the North-West I just have to say that a black pudding isn't a black pudding unless it comes from Bury :D

And for any non-Northerners reading, you can order them online :D

    Bury Black Puddings

Now there are several different kinds of black pudding and I like the lean ones with barley in them - Bury Market yum yum ;)

There's also white sausage, but that's just plain strange imho lol

    Roast Vegetable Yorkshire Pudding

Simply take 700g Chunky Roasting Vegetables Mix (30655) and place in a roasting tin with 5 tbsp of oil. Bake for 15 minutes at 220ºC. Mix 1 egg into 100g plain flour seasoned with salt, pepper and thyme and gradually blend into the milk. Pour over the vegetables and bake for a further 40-45 minutes until golden and cooked throughout.
Serve as an accompaniment or a vegetarian alternative.

    (Serves 6)

I've never been a big fan of Yorkshires but you know that looks fantastic. Never would have thought of adding veg to them. Will try that when the weather cools down.
