    Trep,
Yes! More Shawnkyr! I wonder if she is more curious over her quick decision to stay with Black Sentinel or her inference that Dranu should join her, err I mean them. Could there be luuurrrvv in their future? The certainly seem to work well together.

Awww poor Kypper can't even get any respect as bait; he seems to garner more animosity from Jacen and the non-joiner Chiss than the enemy. And to resort to throwing snowballs - simply hilarious! Dumb bug-huggers.

Plus more Pelly, you are too good to us! I liked that Gavin seemed to get a little justice in the Grand Admiral's opinion of Bwau'tu. I felt Darklighter was portrayed poorly in the DNT (at least he was not alone) and it is good to see him find a better leader.

    Great update.

    CCP: Great update.
I've often wondered why they put so much stock in beating a simulation. It's not the real thing.

I thought the premise cheapened Thrawn. His genius was in his ability to think off the board too far in advance for the opponent. He manipulated the pieces by finesse. A simulation could not capture that...So, I agree CCP. Thanks for reading.

Solo and Fel: I was a little distracted while reading this, so I think I missed why the Chiss joiners weren't paying attention to Kyp at first. But I found his antics quite amusing. Some of the mental images I get with this fic is just beyond words. I could definitely see Kyp doing all that.

Just playing up on the premise started by Denning that the Nest only attacks threats...they didn't perceive him as a threat to the collective based on numbers alone. But, once it registered that he was a Jedi, and caused physical injury as well as firing a blaster...that all changed.

And the last line of this post... not only a great line, but a great place to end it.

Thanks, I liked that one too. I love Pelly...he's cut throat when he has to be...In fact, everything else, is basically the act...Just ask the deceased Moffs. Thanks for reading and the comments...always appreciated of course.

ZettaZofia: FYI- now my excuse for not reviewing is that I'm trying to make our store look like the Easter Bunny threw up all over it. It's working, too. We at Hallmark do enjoy rushing the seasons in...
I'm still tired and lazy from putting out a couple dozen fluffy bunnies and a lot of fake tulips and other springy flowers, but I thought htat I would take a minute to tell you that, as always, I am reading it and loving every second of it even if it's not strictly J/J mushiness. (I just reread "Felish" for that, which I still absolutely love and read when in need of mushiness. ).

Spring is right around the corner...somewhere...Don't worry about diligence in commenting...Glad you liked Felish...That was laying on the cutting room floor...the replacement embarrasses that scene...trust me.

Anyway- on with this one. Shawnkyr is just too awesome. I love her, as you write her, at least.
    I also like Dranu.
    And I loooooovvvvvve Kyp.

Shawnie rocks!!! And she just gets better. Dranu might have a future in my fics...He's growing on me as well. And as for Kyp...more coming up shortly...

One of the reasons I like your fics so much are your space battles. Even though I have a hard time figuring them out and following them, you always make them so darned entertaining, regardless of whether or not I completely get what's going on. (Even more helpful when the brain is a pile of rotting mush.)

Thanks...I've never tried such a big one before. I keep wanting to end it abuptly and move on with the story, but it would seem rushed. So if space battles aren't your forte...sorry about that...but I have been trying to mix in other stuff (Kyp and Jacen)...and we will eventually get into some lightsaber action...and Barabels.

The banter, the way characters read one another, it just makes for really great reading.

    [face_blush] thanks.

The way you write characters is really awesome too, if I haven't mentioned that lately. I'm not sure whose characterization I like best, it's all so great.

I'm sincerely hoping you'll be writing a lot when Legacy starts coming out 'cuz I'm not sure if I'm going to be reading it or not. I enjoyed reading your stuff a lot more than DN, so if the trend continues....

I have started a LotF era fic (that I've neglected too much) "Sons of Corellia" But towards May, I'm sure there will be fics all over the boards dealing with that time frame.

I haven't been in a good reviewer mode for awhile, but I wanted to assure you that it's only 'cuz I'm lazy and not because

I apologize for the bit of delay on getting this post up...It's, actually, a triple post disguised as one...

(On board the Millennium Falcon; Csilla Planetary System; Main Chiss Battlegroup)

?Yes, Supreme Commander?the Jedi are here.? Captain Bisp?ron?uruodo paused while considering his next words carefully.

    ?Is there something else, Captain??

?One of them is?? Ispron tilted his head slightly as if trying to get a read through the swirling blue cone. ??Jedi Jacen Solo.?

?I am aware of that, Captain?and??

?Well?? Ispron let out a breath. ??Jedi Solo is listed as an enemy to the Chiss and there is a standing general order to execute him on sight, Commander.?

?I would recommend against it, Captain.? Jag glanced up to the concerned expressions on the two Solo?s at the console of the Millennium Falcon and waved it off with a sweep of his hand. ?You will end up cutting ice blocks at the pole for your next bivouac should any harm to come to Jedi Solo, and that will be the bearable portion of your new assignment.?

?Yes, Supreme Commander.? Ispron?s shoulders snapped back visibly in the viewer before changing the subject to a status report. ?The Jedi, and a team are addressing the Joiner threat at present, and we are quite sure that all infiltrators within the complex have been addressed sufficiently.?

Jag nodded with approval. ?I would like you to station yourself at the control board for the planetary shields.? He noticed Ispron straighten further. ?Keep the back-up generators running at all times. You are going to need to switch between the primaries and the auxiliaries at a moment?s notice, and we cannot afford delays while the power regenerates.?

Ispron hid his confusion, and replied in the affirmative with conviction. Internally, he wondered if all humans were predisposed to the necessity of acting in cryptic chaotic fashion. Not trusting his voice to match his non-expression, the Chiss Captain merely nodded before the holoimage blinked out.

(Surface of Csilla; Planetary Shield Generator Complex; Ice Caves)

Running on solid ice kilometers under the surface of Csilla, was not what Kyp Durron had anticipated when Grand Master Skywalker had dispatched him to serve as Jedi envoy to Grand Admiral Pellaeon. He had looked forward to an eventual acquisition of a competent wing of snubs, and the comfort an X-Wing to mix it up with the Killik dart ships in support of the Galactic Alliance Fourth Fleet. That was his comfort zone.

Instead, here he was, slipping and sliding down a darkened cave segment in a mad rush to a dead end offset with the hopes of dragging four-hundred-some Chiss Joiners along for the ride.

The Jedi need a union. He thought while struggling with the new concept of focusing the Force around his pounding boots to add friction and balance.

A glance back over his shoulder as the path straightened-out showed bounding red eyes, and errant salvos of blaster fire from those Chiss Joiners less trained. The seasoned veterans knew better than to fire on the run, and waste the power pack. He tried to get a quick assessment of numbers with the hope that his aggressiveness had lured the full compliment into the chase. While Kyp couldn?t be sure, it appeared as if only a portion of the Joiner formation was in pursuit. A heightened attentiveness in Jacen confirmed the assumption, followed by an image of nearly two-hundred Joiners that remained at the original rendezvous.

The Jedi Master nearly lost concentration in his unsteady dash across the ice when Jacen invaded his thoughts through the Force once again. He did lose control altogether when the next vision entering into his mind?s eye.

Somehow, it was a tangible apparition. His concentration wavered just enough to steal away the needed equilibrium to negotiate the slick blue gr

Thanks for explaining that bit from the last post. Definitely makes more sense now.

I'll reply more after I finish reading the new post.

    After:
Kyp running around in this one reminded me a little of Han running around the Death Star in ANH.
And this new species is pretty intriguing. I like examples of what Jacen learned on his Force Tour. I'm really curious as to what he found when he was out there to understand why he acts the way he does now.
Jag's exit from the Falcon was dramatic. I have to say, I'm a little sad to see him leave that ship. I'm glad he got to let Han and Leia know he realised what they had done for him though.
    Sometimes I think only in Star Wars could you get a family call in the middle of a battle... because your mom's in the battle too. 8-}

    Trep,

    Uberpost! Woo-hoo!

I suppose this is what it means to be a Fel.
I wanna be a Fel! They are so awesome!

Jacen's trick with the other Jedi was cool. I really like how you still have him as a semi- Super Jedi, but yet he is not as dark as in profic. That is a good thing. And the chemistry you created with Kyp & Jacen is great; poor Kyp even had to admit he was impressed with Jacen's skill.

?We are still waiting on our placement request, Supreme Commander.?
MamaFel! At least Soontir was able to see that she wasn't going to sit at home and wait for the men in the family to save the day. Hopefully, the Dark Jedi/Killik will continue to underestimate based on face value.

And Cem arrived too... it's a Fel Family Affair. the battle is vary exciting. I can't wait to figure out Jag's plan.

?Nothing.? Jag said after scrutinizing. ?I happen to like Dranu.?
    Gotcha!

Took me quite a while to get to this one...

?You will end up cutting ice blocks at the pole for your next bivouac should any harm to come to Jedi Solo, and that will be the bearable portion of your new assignment.? Not surprising that Bisp?ron?uruodo felt the need to lodge a formal complaint, of sorts, and the fact that there was a standing execution order made it realistic that he would still mention it despite the previous orders to help the Jedi. I loved Jag's equally military-minded response.

The Jedi need a union. LOL! [face_laugh] That was great! Very interesting technique. I was definitely not expecting Jacen's Force-projections - it reminded me vaguely of The Black Fleet Trilogy. Once again, I enjoyed the mix of action with the background to Jacen's technique that gives both perspective and depth to his actions while enforcing his Jacen-ish personality.

Considering the pace of the battle so far, the subsequent change of flag ships and speeding-up of the four Killik ships has come rather quickly. It seems to match the sudden Killik desperation to make it a more even battle by getting those planetary shields down. It was nice to get a quick peek at where Jaina was, as she's been rather quiet of late.

[face_thinking] I wonder what's going on with the interdictors on the surface? I'm expecting to be surprised yet again. I'm already beginning to see the ribbing you were talking, about Trep! Jag's already managed to get several interesting looks in, as well as a comment here or there. ?Nothing.? Jag said after scrutinizing. ?I happen to like Dranu.? He made no effort to hide the grin that served up the words. That was great! Shawnkyr's going to get pretty flustered, I imagine!

We have the arrival of the other three Fels as you had mentioned, and just in time. There was a good level of give and take in terms of Jag and Soontir obviously not wanting Syal and Wynessa to be involved, Syal's quick thinking and determination that is so clearly in her character when the need arises, and an understanding by the men of the family that they can't repress it, only direct it. It was very telling that Soontir didn't try to argue - just took the Rogues to serve as escort.

Looking forward to what you have planned next, as always!

    [:D]

Ispron, Dranu, Kyrn, the Fel Family, and Jag all in one post...one of my favorites so far!

Okay, I loved Jag and Shawnkyr on ship together, and I LOVED his subtle teasing, and hers as well. They work so well together...

Kyp and Jacen were great, and I found the inclusion of the Rhiwats really cool. The Ryn sadly, pretty much disappeared after the Agents of Chaos duology, so I'm glad you used them here. Also neat was the mind trick that Jacen used - it's like a taste of the power we all know he will one day unleash.

My absolute favorite part of this post was, of course, Syal and Wyn showing up. I adored Wyn playing soldier (except she's not really playing, is she?) and demanding placement in battle. You know how I feel about the fanfic phenomenom Wyn who went to Neverland and never grew up...so I was glad to see a much more mature Wyn here who not only isn't afraid to take a stand with her people and family, but wants to do so.

Syal too is amazing, and she knows how to use her authority well and wisely. Jag might be Supreme Commander of the CEDF, but Syal is Supreme Commander of the Fel household and all its members...

I especially liked the conversation Jag and Shawnkyr had at the end of the post (I know this isn't a Shag story...but I still love reading them together. All that subtext and subtleties).

?You have no idea.? Jag mumbled while staring straight to Shawnkyr. "You started this, you know, by allowing my mother to serve as co-pilot."

"I have found that Fel's require no encouragement to move beyond protocol." The Chiss Commander returned just as accusatory. "And, Supreme Commander, we have both seen your mother operate in similar circumstances. She did well."

You know, this sequence here reminds me of something I have planned for Besieged. Syal is just so amazing, and you utilize her so well, and allow her to break out of the damsel in distress holostar mommy role.

"Nor were they meant to comfort you, Jagged." Shawnkyr switched to the familiar. "Just remember that your mother fights for the same purpose as we all do, and deserves the opportunity to contribute in her own way."

First of all, I like how Shawnkyr and Jag switch between rank and name, depending on the situation. Another nice detail. And, I like that you made Syal a fighter. She's not a warrior by any means, but she is a fighter, and of course she's not going to sit out while the lives of her family are on the line. And of course, she helps in such a spectacular way, showing up with much needed reinforcements to protect Jag's vulnerable flank.

Soontir has obviously learned to concede at this point in his life.

Also, CEM!!!!!!!!!!!! He's finally here!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to see him on board the Ackbar. I love commandos, especially Chiss commandos, and especially commandos named Cem Fel. He doesn't need to be a Jedi to fight along side them. ::hearts Cemmie::

"Perhaps not." Shawnkyr moved away from the holoscan to get a better view of the growing Nest ships on approach. "But your mother honored me by suggesting that she is proud of my accomplishments." She turned to Jag, who was focused intently on her words. "I am just as proud of the Baroness; as you should be."

I really loved this paragraph. It just illustrates for me how wonderful this entire group of people are. I don't know...maybe I'm just mushy and gooey when it comes to the Fabulous Fels + Kyrn. But there is something nice when instead of parents being proud of their children, which is always expected, the children are proud of their parents. The fact that first of all, Syal feels proud of Shawnkyr, an alien who is really only her son's friend, and secondly, that Shawnkyr feels proud of her, a human female with no military credentials, makes it really neat. And that Jag is proud of his mother too, though he's also stressed [face_laugh] And Cem just backing down from that stand off was hilarious.

What it means to be a Fel: being proud of your entire family and knowing that they are not only watching y

[face_laugh] Yeah...Syal takes the stubborn 'award' in this one. Cem was smart enough to keep out of it. Thanks for reading...more on the way

Solo and Fel: Thanks for explaining that bit from the last post. Definitely makes more sense now.

I hate to say it, but my post was more influenced by the 'Borg' from Star Trek. Unfortunately, I think Denning's Killik were as well.

    After:
Kyp running around in this one reminded me a little of Han running around the Death Star in ANH.

You just brought back that scene of him running around the bend blaster leading...then running back with stormtroopers on his tail...One of my favorites. [face_laugh]

And this new species is pretty intriguing. I like examples of what Jacen learned on his Force Tour. I'm really curious as to what he found when he was out there to understand why he acts the way he does now.

Me too!!!! I hope we get specifics in LotF. I thought one of the funniest parts in the Dark Nest Trilogy was when he was messing around with the brain scan. Had I been standing there in that scene I would have been laughing.

Jag's exit from the Falcon was dramatic. I have to say, I'm a little sad to see him leave that ship. I'm glad he got to let Han and Leia know he realised what they had done for him though.

Yeah...there was a nice bond building there between young Fel and the old ex-smuggler. Logistics made the departure a necessity...Leia, Saba, (and Han) have a bit of work to do...and Jag on the Drit'mis'va was necessary as well...as you will see in the next post.

Sometimes I think only in Star Wars could you get a family call in the middle of a battle... because your mom's in the battle too.
Look's like everyone's here for the party!

Good point...Everyone has a pilot's license...[face_laugh] Just about everyone is ready to rumble...Thanks for reading and the comments.

(Surface of Csilla; Underground ice cave system; Planetary Generator Complex)

There was no avoiding it due to the tightness of the confining blue ice walls.

Kyp darted from his kneel and took off like a shot down the cave. He, instinctively, closed his eyes as he ran through the apparition of Tenel Ka to make his exit. She appeared so lifelike and real. Yet, he felt nothing in the collision. It was unnerving as he passed right through, and the unaltered vision remained.

?Sorry, Queen Mother.? Kyp mumbled with a grimace before, nearly falling in startled astonishment as the vision of Mara Jade Skywalker now filled his front. Recovering with a grin, he forehanded his glowing green blade through her midriff while continuing the run.

    ?Whoops.?

Risking a haphazard glance back over his shoulder in the dash, he caught the flurry of activity as the Joiner reserves arrived in force. The constant salvos of laser blasts careening off the ice cold walls enveloped the confines with plumes of tumbling steam, and an increase in multi-colored fire confirmed the assumption.

Jacen entered Kyp?s mind as a gradual fade was applied to the artifice Jedi standing firm in the wake of his departure deeper into the corridors. Their opaque nature soon transcended into a reduction in clarity. Sharp edges of the pummeled ice walls started to show through each false lightsaber wielding ghost.

Run. Jacen suggested with added amusement.

?Run.? Kyp absently grunted through gritted teeth with disgust. A near Joiner blaster shot pounded into the wall above him and caused chunks of ice to collapse down onto his head. ?RUN!?

His speed increased with the word and he could hear them on the move again in his wake. The constant clatter of boot soles on solid ice stayed continuous and loud; neither gaining nor falling back, but there was definitely an increase in ranks.

Moving. He sent through the Force back to Jacen while shutting down his lightsaber and snapping it to his belt to improve balance.

His arms flailed as counter weights to supplement the focus of the Force around his pounding boots. Digging deep into his mind, he recalled the path to his destination, while enhancing his vision in the dim immediate illumination to catch just a hint of the abandon corridor?s archway. A tight smile evolved as he made headway for the point while risking another glance over his shoulder. Thankfully, the deeper he had recessed into the, seldom used, caves brought more bends and lowered space. The stand alone shield generators that lit the surrounds were staggered and fewer, giving more shadows and cover.

An image conjured into his mind showing a rear view of the Joiner ranks, confirming that Jacen and the team of Chiss Commandoes were on their tail, just out of view. It was key that they turn up quickly once the Joiners had been corralled into the dead-end corridor. If they didn?t, it would all be for naught.

Sliding to a stop, Kyp braced himself against the new archway that led to the final stop on this crazy run. He still heard the approach of the Joiners hot on his trail as the sound waves compacted into the tightening confines. The Force signature approaching seemed odd and diluted. However, there was no mistaking that the doubled numbers jacked up the sense. He couldn?t put a handle on their state of mind, because they seemed to be operating on automatic; overlapping. It was as if there was one humongous being headed his way.

He waited until the front most Chiss Joiner rounded the bend into clear view before snapping his hand up to grasp the rising Force driven hilt of his lightsaber. The green flash led into a calming emerald hue caressing the curved frozen walls that framed him. His free hand moved to his mouth just in advance of a shrill calling whistle, and the energy blade dared them closer in a wave. The Joiners accepted the invitation without a hitch, causing Kyp to push off the ice wall and disappea

Okay...this won't be as long as it *was*. I had a nice detailed reply going as I actually read the update...and the internet promptly went pahtooey and I lost it all.

Here goes in not quite-as-much of an order:

So on the Kyp and Jacen side:
Nice play out of that action. Looks like they've accomplished what they set out to do. It'll be interesting to see how the rest of the Chiss on the surface (both their companions and those in command that Jag was talking with) respond to their success.

He felt affirmative relief in return before yanking out the covering and silently thanking the Force that he wasn?t a Wookiee.
It would be a tight fit.

    [face_laugh] Aren't we all?

?Yeah, well, wait until I tell my Aunt that you gutted her.? Jacen grinned while turning to move back to the Generator Complex. He smiled wide in the turn as an annoyed anger rose up in the Force to his aft. ?She?ll probably want to set up a sparring session to set things straight.?
Another great comment. Jacen sure can't seem to give Kyp a break with his teasing...not that I'm complaining, of course! I wonder if Kyp is starting to feel like he's more with Jaina then Jacen, since he's used to getting the teasing from her and the inward-focused 'lalalalala' from Jacen. I'm sure Mara would receive great amusement from teaching Kyp that lesson...

And on to the Fel women...
?I am not stupid, Jagged.? The irritated voice returned.
Way to go, Fel women! The Fel men seem to be making a habit of underestimating them...although it is completely understandable as it is driven more by fear than a real judgement on their abilities.

?This is no the time to?? There was a long pause before Soontir?s voice returned. ?Syal, please just follow my orders.?
    LOL!

Wyn's torpedo barrage was awesome. She's quite the mathematician...I love how proud of her the family is, even if they doubt her at first (again, understandable considering her experience). You've done a wonderful job of taking huge leaps in her character development in just the short clips we've seen of her. In particular, I liked her decision to not use her mother as a way to smooth along her pilot ambitions...it shows a lot of determination and grit that matches her last name. I think her most recent manuever went a long way towards helping that out! One quick typo...in the first post from actually *within* the New Horizon there's one point where Wynessa speaks and is accidentally called a "he". One of those easy slips. I once did a similar think and called Luke a "two-headed Jedi" instead of a "tow-headed Jedi"! [face_blush]

As for Jag and the flag ship...
I have to admit, at first I was a little disappointed when Jag transferred ships in the last segment because I had enjoyed seeing him with Han and Leia. With this post, I've decided I heartily approve of the transition as I am majorly enjoying Jag and Shawnkyr's interactions.

I loved Jag's interdictor plan! That's some pretty impressive strategizing after witnessing Wedge's original/inverse use of the tactic. I never saw it coming...not surprisingly...lol...haven't seen a lot of things coming in this story. It's good to see that it worked out well and that his Rebel tendencies are continuing to show up and have only further influenced his character in positive ways.

?Never tell me the odds.? He mouthed softly to himself while building back up to the façade of Command.
I absolutely LOVED the way this line was passed onto Jag!

?Or you will be building snow forts on the ice plains.? She said quietly with amusement.
?Yes.? Jag snorted. ?But, at least I will have your company.?

    LOL!

Again, great job, Trep. Looking forward to the speeded-up posts, although you have been spoiling us with the really long ones!

?I believe we are about to learn whether she has a better handle on non-linear algebra than the rest of us, Commander.? Shawnkyr?s voice returned.
[face_laugh} I think so. Or at least I hope so. Because I don't even know what she's doing.

?That was?impressive, Supreme Commander.? Shawnkyr said after a moment as Dranu came up on her right side shaking his head in disbelief.
    Most impressive...

Wow. Can we say 'tension'? There was a quite a bit of it in this post, I felt, but you do a good job, Trep of releasing it a little so we don't all explode.
This is quite a show and I must say I am very impressed.

SakuraTsukikage: A birthday present! And I see a ship named after Chewie! (I will actually go back and read the rest of the story later today ). I just couldn't resist, with you updating on my birthday and all.

Yes...Happy Birthday...That is exactly what I was thinking when I wrote this...:D ..sort of. Well, maybe not a ship named after Chewie (but that is a good idea)...but a maneuver. Chances are you'll need more than a day to read the previous...I got a little prolific on this fic. But, I encourage you to give it a shot. Thanks for the comments.:D

CCP: This was great and all but I think Jagged is digging his own grave.
I'll take odds that Syal takes Jag over her knee when this is done.

That would be a sight...[face_laugh] Maybe in the Epilogue...Thanks for reading CCP...and the comments.

Jedi Vai: Again you have put me on the edge of my seat!

Glad you are enjoying the action...More on the way.

    Wyn is a tactical genius!
    In your face, Soontir!!!

Yeah...poor Soontir is getting bombarded with revelation after revelation...It should be fun to get all the Fel's in one place to see what sort of conversation develops...

And the "Chewbacca", aptly named for a hero whose life was about honor and integrity!
    (Unlike the Jedi) :p

    Outstanding, Trep!
    Simply outstanding!

I, always, throw in little dedications to big furry one whenever I have a fic of any length...this was just another such occurence. I miss him. Thanks for reading and the great comments.

Jedi Master Gimpy: Okay...this won't be as long as it *was*. I had a nice detailed reply going as I actually read the update...and the internet promptly went pahtooey and I lost it all.

I hate when that happens...It seems to happen quite a bit as of late. I've lost a number of posts that way, and then get some "timed out" message...or something...

We have more with those two, but not down in the ice caves. And in the interest of keeping things flowing, I didn't really dwell on reactions to their efforts...but there will be some asides to it down the road.

He felt affirmative relief in return before yanking out the covering and silently thanking the Force that he wasn?t a Wookiee.
It would be a tight fit.
    Aren't we all?

Well, there would be the benefit of not having to wear a parka...but besides that, Wookies aren't built to navigate small air vents...[face_laugh]

Jacen is definitely a different character post "Traitor". But, to be honest, if I can overlook his questionable ethics, he really is much more solidly built mentally...and easier to latch onto...Kyp and Mara? Always good for a few laughs.

And on to the Fel women...
?I am not stupid, Jagged.? The irritated voice returned.

    ?Where to, your Highness??

Leia remained in closed-eye meditation, but allowed a slight upturn of her lips to the mock subservient tone of her husband. ?How about the outer moon soaking pool resorts of the Triso System??

?Oh Princess, you don?t know how good that sounds.? Han spoke with exaggerated relief while rubbing his neck. ?But??

    ?Yes, but.? Leia added.

?How?s sprout doing down on the surface??

?He seems to be out of danger.? Leia still kept her eyes closed, palms up and open on her lap with her chin pointing forward. ?And, this grandmother is making a direct course for Hape?s as soon as we finish here.?

?Yeah.? Han chuckled. ?This grandfather will make sure you get there.? He sighed heavily as the Millennium Falcon skirted the rear ranks of the Chiss Flanking line on a trajectory to rejoin the main Chiss Battle group. His resigning sigh caused Leia to open her eyes slowly in accommodation of the bright cockpit.

?We haven?t talked about this yet, have we??

?What?s to talk about?? Han snapped more abruptly than he would have liked, and grimaced slightly as a result. ?We have one kid who thinks she?s a bug, and another who is ashamed of his family.?

?That?s not true, and you know it.? Leia paused and turned to the ex-smuggler. ?On both counts.?

?Maybe not, Leia,?but they are both going to have to tell me that to my face and convince me before I accept anything different.? He glanced up with a serious face. ?Click-free. I?m done pretending that I accept that odd behavior. It?s?? He shook his head and returned his focus to the console.

?Open your eyes, nerfherder.? Leia smiled warmly. ?They?re both trying to show you.? She paused, expressing concentration for a short time before turning back to her husband. ?Judging by what I feel in our daughter through the Force, I?d say she?s back on the right path.?

    ?What??

?Let?s just say I sense the Jaina we both know and love in there fighting hard to dominate an army of distractions.?

?Fraggin bugs.? Han scowled as the Falcon twisted vertical and slipped in between two stationary Chiss gunboats before leveling out and showing a clear view of the diminishing open space between two gargantuan armed forces. ?Holy??

Leia leaned forward and nodded. ?This is going to be something.?

?Yeah.? Han said absently. ?Where is she??

Leia entered the Force again before leaning into the system scan and pointing.

    ?Here.?

Han nodded and studied the approaching Chiss formations before glancing up in the viewer to pick out the spot. ?Good.? He turned to Leia. ?Then that?s where we?re going.?

Jaina inhaled a long cleansing breath and let it out slowly while playing with the overlapped end of her pilot?s gloves. She stopped in mid pull when she felt her mother?s presence in the Force. It was comforting and warm, but incredibly strong.

?Good Gods, mom.? She smiled as she spoke softly to herself. ?Where have you been hiding that??

?Your mother seems to be checking on you.? Mara?s amused voice filled her helmet.

?We think that will be an ongoing effort.? Jaina replied with an instinctive glance out of her Clawcraft?s canopy to the X-Wing on her port side.

    ?Mother?s prerogative.?

?Something like that.? Jaina sighed. ?She is??

Jaina was cut off by the strong serious voice of Kyle Katarn. ?Finish your parenting discussion later.? Kyle held no amusement. He seemed to be all business. ?Go to channel 470 on your commlink and secure.?

When the read out of participants began listing on the side of the encryption feature of the console mounted commlink controls, her brow rose in response. She

That's so sad to think that it's come to that for Han and Leia... even if it isn't completely true.

So here is a double review, since I was a bad reader and didn't review last time. :p

Way too much ground to cover to do a line by line, so here are my thoughts in some semblance of order:

As always, watching the antics of Kyp and Jacen are fun, and we see why the Durron-Solo partnership is so great. It's kind of like Jacen took Jaina's place, except he's probably not as attractive to Kyp as Jaina was.

I also thought it was funny when he went right through TK's apparition. Talk about exiting royally. [face_laugh]

I loved watching the interactions of Soontir and Syal, and then Syal and Wyn. The Baron tries to keep the situation under control in regards to his family, and then he realizes that it's just more prudent to trust his family.

?This is no the time to?? There was a long pause before Soontir?s voice returned. ?Syal, please just follow my orders.?

Soontir is a man who never concedes...until he is confronted with the indomitible Syal Fel. [:D]

I loved Jag having to finally order his mother around - he better milk the situation for all its worth as he might never get the opportunity again. Also, I really liked the dynamics of the Fels here. This experience is new for all of them, in a way. It's Wyn's first combat experience, Cem's first time participating as a Fel, Jag as supreme commander, Syal facing down enemy gunships (though somehow, I doubt this is her first time in combat [face_mischief]), and Soontir flying an X-wing on behalf of Csilla under the command of his son. Pretty neat.

It struck him, then, that her request was more than valid; but a risk. If they could initiate the skirmish with the Killik ships, fully in advance of the flank line, they would have more time to destroy two of them and lessen the chance of more than that getting through to atmospheric. He bit back on his fears.

One thing that really annoys me is the concept of men being overly protective in the SW universe because, other than the little bit that seems to be ingrained in their genetic sequence, these guys know women who are talented, strong, and intelligent. In fact, a lot of times it seems to be the women coming to the rescue. So it's nice to see Jag battle against his concerns, take a step back, and be logical and assess fairly the skills that his mother and sister can offer.

Wynnsa sounded so much older than the whining voice that always caused involuntary cringes when he managed to get home on leave. In truth, he caught his mother?s convictive inflection flirting on the edges of her tone.

I really am enjoying watching Wyn unfold as a talented young woman who is showing herself to be worthy of the Fel family name. She left Csilla as a girl bordering on the cusp of womanhood, I suppose, looking for adventure, just wanting to get away. But now we see someone who is responsible and mature, and wants to fight for her family - and for the Chiss - and she is willing not only to risk her life and her mothers, but to risk the lives of others by gambling with her torpedo move. She is also ready to take on personal responsibilities as well, as she refuses her mother's offer of help in confronting Soontir later.

Which, by the way, was amazing! I love the idea that Wyn is a mathematical genius. Sometimes, especially in military families, people tend to forget that their is more to genius than just battlefield smarts. :)

And I really enjoyed the befuddlement of, like, everyone, when Wyn did that. Seriously, it was my favorite part of the post. *glomps Wyn*

?You support him willfully and loyally. You do not hold a monopoly on that act.? The grin returned. ?I can be just as stubborn. More so, in fact.?

Aww, Dranu, trying to impress the girl! I daresay it's working too :p

?Or you will be building snow forts on the ice plains.? She said quietly with amusement.

?Yes.? Jag snorted. ?But, at least I will have your company.?

[face_love] *takes a moment to ponder the Shag possibilities here*

    Oh right, it's J/J.

    CCP: Great update!
Can't wait to see what Han pulls off.

Thanks CCP...Han is always fun to watch...He'll fill you in on his next little "gambit" in the next post...but he has a real treat coming up down the road a bit...;) Thanks for reading.

Solo and Fel: ?We have one kid who thinks she?s a bug, and another who is ashamed of his family.?
That's so sad to think that it's come to that for Han and Leia... even if it isn't completely true.

Yeah, Han is a bit down on things...but compared to a while ago, things are looking a bit better. Still, where's the first place he chose to be on the battlefield? Where ever Jaina was...Hold that thought...;)

It's good to see Jaina back. That whole exhange were her making commentary on what was going across the channels and the reference to yet another of the dearly departed made it a really fun read.

Yeah...I like throwing Anakin in whenever I get a chance...and from this point forward, Jaina's story takes a primary role....(hence, the useful idiot)...Thanks for reading and the comment S and F...more coming right up...

Ike and Mike of the Jedi...It still seems like a weird pairing but seems to work, without too much departur from canon...Go figure. Exciting royalty? or Exiting Royalty? [face_laugh]

I loved watching the interactions of Soontir and Syal, and then Syal and Wyn. The Baron tries to keep the situation under control in regards to his family, and then he realizes that it's just more prudent to trust his family.

I thought it would be amusing to show Jag flustered, and unsure how to handle his mother, while Soontir reacts in a way that suggests that he's been down this road with her before, and capitulates at the drop of a hat. I laughed while I was writing it...just picturing the Fel patriarch throwing up his hands, and at the same time bursting at the seams with pride.

?This is no the time to?? There was a long pause before Soontir?s voice returned. ?Syal, please just follow my orders.?

Every man has his weakness. Mine happens to be a triple vente cap...and women who drink scotch (just not from the bottle)...

Pretty neat.

That came about in a strange way. I wanted to show that the Fel's were just as human as everyone else, without compromising their canon proclivities. The best way to do it was to throw new situations at them and allow them to react. And, it went downhill from there.

It struck him, then, that her request was more than valid; but a risk. ?Miss me, oh Great One??

?Like a bad cup of caf?.? Jaina responded instinctively, and marveled at how much pleasure was attached to such rote remarks. ?How did it go on the surface??

?The Chiss are an immoral collection of militant blowhards who live in holes and draw lines on the ceiling with snot from their upturned noses.? Kyp quipped.

    ?That well??

?He?s exaggerating.? Jacen broke in as another Clawcraft swept in on the opposite side of her own. ?They aren?t that bad if you give them something sharp and pointy to keep occupied, or maybe a holo of a Jedi to talk down to.?

?It sounds like you both made an impression.?

?Yeah?I thought about making an impression.? Kyp added with amusement. ?Right in the middle of a blue forehead.?

?They?re not all that bad.? Jaina threw in quickly, again without thinking. She grimaced at the duo chuckles that returned. Simultaneously, she questioned the change in her thinking, having no difficulty castigating all Chiss and their allies without deliberation in the recent past; including Jag.

?You can?t put Jag in that category anymore, sis.?

?We don?t know what you?re talking about.? Her dismissive denial was too quick.

?Oh please.? Kyp snorted. ?Look, Jaina, you might be able to dump that echuta on yourself to make things easier, but don?t try throwing it in our direction. Your wayward brother and I are doing all we can to dodge what you have been flinging indiscriminately out in the Force since we arrived in the system.?

Silence returned as the mixed squadron of Jedi piloted starfighters dodged in and out of the Chiss Fleet towards the rear most portion of the ranks. It was Jacen that broke the telling quiet.

    ?Jaina, want some advice??

?Not especially.? She returned sounding annoyed.

?Good?here it is.? Jacen continued unfazed and amused. ?First of all, my guess is that Jag has had about all he can stomach from the Chiss. Let?s not overlook that they tried to kill his entire family. Call it a hunch, but I sense that?s a sticking point with the Fel?s.? He gave Jaina a moment to respond. Instead, he felt her keen interest return through the Force. ?And, secondly, you?d have to be a complete idiot not to read into the opportunities he has given you, and continues to give you at a risk to himself.?

?Are you a complete idiot, Goddess?? Kyp questioned lightheartedly.

?Are you both dumb enough to keep calling us an idiot??

    ?Sure we are?? Jacen laughed.

?Absolutely.? Kyp snorted. ?As much as it pains me to say it, Jacen?s right.?

?Can we remind you two over-invasive characters that Supreme Commander Jagged Fel is currently directing all Chiss forces? You don?t throw away opportunities like that.?

?Honor, Jaina.? Kyp responded. ?You know Jag?s stuffed collar better than we do. But, even your thickheaded brother knows he?s doing it only out of honor and necessity. How has that eluded you??

?Thickheaded?? Jacen sounded offended, but Jaina picked up on his amusement in the Force.

?So, what are you saying?? She cringed having opened up an opportunity for the conversation to continue.

It was Jacen who answered, and all amusement had left every part of him. ?Talk to him when this is over, Jai.? He paused for a moment when she didn?t respond. ?Just?talk to him.?

?I doubt he will be interested in talking to me.? Jaina exhaled loudly. ?You two couldn?t understand.?

?What don?t we understand?? Kyp jumped in with irritation, but softened again. ?Between Solo and myself, we?re damn near omnipotent.?

?We?re sure you think so.? Jaina said cautiously. ?There?s too much.?

?Too much what?? It was Jacen this time, and Jaina wasn?t oblivious to the fact that the two of them seemed to be tag-teaming her.

?It?s not just?? She trailed off.

    ?Jaina??

    A long breath sounde

Jaina is starting to raelize how goofed up her ideas of the past few years have been. Now if only the pro-fic writers would realize the same....
And let's all hope those same pro-fic hacks can write Cem even half as interesting as a character....

I really love the Cem/Tahiri sequence with Luke....

    And absolutely adore Cem/Jaina....

Keep writing, I'll definitely keep reading.....
