Just made my reservation there. The place looks nice and it's just across the street from the Holiday Inn (saw it on Local Live - you can see it here, the Holiday Inn is in the middle, the Figueroa's on the left and the convention center parking is in the lower right). They don't have any Queen bed rooms left - just Twins & Kings when I called.

Having just been there in March the parking lot is no longer there...they are building new Hotels, Resturants and a Movie Theater in that space. This stuff is supposed to be open by Jan of 2007 but it isnot for sure if it is even going to make it by May of 07 now.

Here are some pics form my room at the Holiday Inn in March. The Fig is just out of the picture on the right. That is only one end of the Convention Center. It goes down for another three blocks.

Why are so many already booking the Figueroa? Isn't the Holiday Inn closer and cheaper? How much are rooms costing there? I read that the Holiday Inn was charging $119 a night.

 

it is only like 100 feet closer

 

I looked for a room as late as I could get it (they didn't have late May up yet so I did 4/21/07 - 4/29/07) and it was $159/night if you pay in advance - it was about $170 a night with the ability to cancel but you have to pay for one night no matter when you do.

 

I heard that the place was booked during the date of the convention, probally because they booked them up to sell them as CIV hotel packages (which will take place in late summer/early fall).
