No idea where to put this so I made a new thread. Insert it into another thread if need be. Please just let me know, though, where it goes.

This is not just with GOTG but with other movies. Anyone realize that the same basic structure in TFA also appears in GOTG?

A young boy or man is orphaned. He relies on stealing things for a living like a scavenger. He does so for supposedly "adopted" family/guardians of a shady nature. He/she teams up with someone who has just abandoned the evil side. After escaping dangerous clutches with new friends, they end up at a place where they find things out about past relics. But the bad guys come and all hell breaks loose. Someone is captured and must be rescued. They all end up making deals to work with the head lady in charge of the military force and take down a massive weapon and finally defeat a madman crazed lunatic. But there is a much bigger madman lunatic in charge of everything. At the end, the hero learns of his/her enormous powers and there is still a question of who that hero is and where they came from.

Plus or minus a few things (who does the capturing and whether the madman dies).

This is a fairly common narrative in a lot of sci-fi, really. There's variations on these themes everywhere.

Yes, and doesn't really require it's own thread. Locking.
