WEG gave the Empire anti-alien policies, which I'm not a fan of.

So when the guy calls Chewie a thing, you prefer to think that's just one jerk and not indicative of Imperial culture?

    1. Who wrote that article, and when?
    2. Palpatine worked with plenty of non-humans.
    3. It could be that the Empire hates Wookiees specifically.

So the Stormtroopers were known to be clones in 1978!

Also note that all evidence of the Empire working with aliens is from the EU, not the movies - RotJ even kind of implies that the DSII is being built by humans. Point being, it's not like WEG just pulled it out of thin air.

    Palpatine had a non-human apprentice.

True- but in more recent works he's portrayed as more "tool" than "intended successor".

It's also possible that "near humans" like Zabrak/Dathomirians, and so on, were less distrusted than aliens with no descent from humans (or the common ancestor of humans, if the split was really early).

So you're blaming WEG for creating anti-alien bias because it was contradicted in 1999?

I was just saying that future movies should feel free to contradict that part of WEG canon.

WEG is one of my favorite sources for contradicting the unsubstantiated allegation of anti-alien bias in Imperial law, so I'm really not sure what this guy's on about. The Imperial Sourcebook establishes that all Imperial citizens are equal under the law. Therefore, any discriminatory treatment is the basis of personal attitudes amongst individual officials -- reflecting views that were already widespread in the Core.

Edit: Dude, this is like saying that you hate WOTC because of midichlorians.

They say that a picture is worth a thousand words, and if so, then all I got from that was gibberish.

You don't need to resurrect or clone Chewie, just have someone take off with him in a ship mere minutes after the Falcon leaves, and then have Chewie stranded or imprisoned somewhere.

sorry that does not fly. Han saw Chewie burning to death, as the air ignited. Anakin was correct when he said there only a few seconds left before the falcon would be destroyed. Not enough time for Chewie to be rescued.

That would really explain why Han didn't feel so close to his family in the months after Sernpidal, but it would also ask for a few really weird questions on how his relationship with Leia was repaired and became something even better/closer than before...

Please elaborate. This sounds good and I want to understand it. (Been meaning to reread that bit for ages, anyway.)

That said, if the Empire's regularly stripping the populations of entire worlds of their citizenship and reducing them to "protectorate" status, that statement can be true in letter, while less true in spirit.
