    I thought it was at first, but the Ithorians don't have front-facing mouths, they have weird slits along the side of their heads that they talk through, and the TFA creature's eyes don't flare out enough. The Ithorians were a definite influence on the design, though, and they'll probably say they're closely related species.

    Unfortunately, I couldn't get the Vanity Fair pic to reload so that I could zoom in and such. Thanks for pointing out the differences, as that made it easier. As you stated, there's definite influence from the Ithorian species shown. My hope is that - like with the original Expanded Universe - the characters we seen in that pic will hopefully get toys made of each of them, and maybe even their backgrounds will be delved into more, but I don't know if that will happen as I think it was Iger who spoke recently of not wanting to oversaturate the market with Star Wars, so that may not bode well for an expansive toy production.

    Anyone download the VF digital version? It's out now. I'm curious if there's any new info.

    I caved in and downloaded it. Reading it now. Lots of PT bashing in the opening (not surprising)... Confirms they are not going 100% with Lucas' treatments which "centered on very young characters - teenagers, Lucasfilm told me - which might have struck Disney executives as veering too close for comfort to The Phantom Menace and its 9 year old Anakin Skywalker and 14-year-old Quee3n Amidala."

    "We've made some departures from Lucas' ideas, Kennedy conceded, but only in 'exactly the way you would in any development process.'"

    will post more if there's more new info.

    - summer 2015 was the original plan. Kennedy was the first to voice that that plan might be a little too ambitious.

    - Indiana Jones doesn't have a script yet but they are talking about it.

    - Abrams decided to come on board when Kennedy "told him the picture was a blank canvas."

    -Arndt was "having difficulty finishing a script within the necessary time frame. 'There was a ton of ideas and outlines, a lot of cards on the wall, a lot of writing on whiteboards,' Abrams said, but no screenplay." This was in early November 2013 that Kasdan/Abrams started from scratch.

    The magazine will contain no new photos. Same as the digital version.

    -Quote from John Williams, who has seen roughly 3/4 of the film: "What I have seen is absolutely delightful and witty and funny and engaging. The extensions of the mythology are very cleverly and beautifully written, I think. If I can quote Steven Spielberg... 'J.J. has hit it out of the ballpark.' I'm having a lot of fun with it."

    - No new photos.

    -Talk of a scene with spaceships blasting away at each other.

    And that's about it.

    I mean no disrespect either. I admit we don't have dialog but we know a lot of the major sequences and which characters are involved and what is happening. That's all I'm saying. We don't have much in terms of context but there's literally scene upon scene of info. We could basically outline each characters path for the most part.

    Satipo

    sounds like the Spielberg quote was a personal conversation between them though. So nice to know Spielberg thinks he nailed it too.

    Thanks for the update! I'm thinking about downloading the digital version. In your opinion is it worth the money?

    I took the Spielberg quote to be John using Spielberg's comments on TPM.

    It was a joke. Pretty much saying no one should be surprised that the people working on the film are saying nice things about it.

    commander cody - I was honestly a little disappointed with the length of the article, personally. With no new pictures and a short-ish article, I'm not sure that it's worth the cost of admission.

    edit: and in the quote from Williams, he was using one of Spielberg's favorite phrases - not something Spielberg said about TFA. I should have made that more clear.

    You know what the word sarcasm comes from?
    The Greek word Sarcasmos which means "to tear flesh, bite the lip in rage, sneer".
    So at the end of the day...you enjoy antagonizing and when you are constantly sarcastic you bring on arguments that way.

    WHICH IS VERY TROLL LIKE ;)

    who cares?:rolleyes:
    can we stop accusing everybody of being a troll, if you don't like someone 's opinion ignore it/move on, we have mods that can do their jobs no need to derail every thread by accusing people of trolling and then conflict start from that.[face_plain]

    Well, Greg Grunberg gave a new interview about his Star Wars character:

    http://www.starwars7news.com/2015/0...unbergs-character-from-the-force-awakens.html

    Key details:

    * He has signed for three movies.
    * He shot for 7 weeks in London at Pinewood.
    * He is not a CG character.
    * He has facial hair.
    * He has no prosthetics.
    * He never read the whole script. It was on red paper.
    * There will be an action figure with his character.
    * The actors had to wear cloaks while walking towards the set.
