The Author and Artist is working well, and doesn't need any changing. Dialogue and communication is exchanged regularly between the readers and visiting parties.

Most of the Literature Forum is perhaps two-thirds books as it is, with other third comics, polls, character opinions and other miscellaneous.

I don't really see why comic threads should be separated. And there's one important factor---transposing across so many different boards is both time consuming and difficult to communicate.

Individual computer speeds vary; and ease of posting is what is important after all. Discussing comics and books in one board is preferable to me.

But . . . the Literature forum can become cluttered with polls and character discussions too much. While not a bad thing, perhaps the split could be a more "fan casual" one: where such polls and fav threads and all the Maraites in the world can be discussed there. :D

Those are my initial thoughts at the moment.

    *Votes for a Comic Forum*

Comics are going to huge in the next two and half years. Comic topics are getting lost in everything else that is Lit.

It wouldn't be a big forum but that shouldn't matter.

That's what EUC is for. ;) I thought that I was being efficient enough in shunting things into that forum. ?[face_plain]

I have to echo Gandolf's sentiment. In a recent Comms' "mod evaluation" post, I was parodied for locking/redirecting off-topic threads, among other things.

I have to think that we've been pretty successful in removing and/or locking inappropriate threads and redirecting threads where they're more appropriate if possible. I know at least a few people have taken notice because they've PM'ed me, ranging from calling me a thread-fascist anti-christ to being rather positive with respect to locking and removing off-topic threads.

I meant that in a good way!

I meant, even though there is a separate forum for these polls and related stuff, Literature still gets its fill of them.

Am I right in thinking that the new forum would just be comic-related?

STAY AS IT IS. Nothing is wrong with it as of now.

And why split comics up? What if I have a topic about, say, the EMperor. It covers COD and Dark EMpire. Where does it go? It's pointless, IMO.

And of course, what you actually do is cut off part of the community. I dont go in Collecting much, but when I do I post. Thats because Im intrested, but not enough to stick around. Comics would get the same thing.

The ONLY way I would like a comic forum was if comics can still be mentioned in Lit. That would make a comic forum pointless unless you let ALL comics be discussed, which is never going to happen.

I find myself agreeing, though a simple Yes-No-Undecided poll will show where the majority is. I discuss comics as much as books, and changing forums each time would be needlessly wasteful.

I like things the way they are. I'm a big supporter of keeping comics, books and all SW literature in the same forum.

Being a relativley new poster I have to say no to a split, not because I don't see the point of it but from a newbie stand point the whole place is already too confusing. In the past year or so I've had threads locked because "they're in the wrong place" and should be in "so and so". Whilst I have now got the hang of this (sort of) I feel you may discourage new users from using the Forums by classifying areas more and more.

"A specialist is someone who knows more and more about less and less" - Could this be what will happen to the Lit. Forum?

I have no desire whatsoever to see the Literature forum split. If we do create a new forum (and one exists, that hasn't been opened to the public yet), it will be to give certain topics that wouldn't otherwise survive so terribly well as a group in Literature a chance to live.

Look at it this way. The new forums would not be the sole place to discuss a book. The idea is to have a single official thread for each book comment, where readers post review and rate the books. Think something along the lines of Caine's Lit Forum Review Special.

So, this way there's an official thread for the book long after it's initial official thread in lit has fallen back into archived-locked territory? ie: Cloak of Deception.

The reason the review threads work is because youre reviewing FRESH. You've just read the book, and THERE are your thoughts. You ask people to review Darksabre, and they think back. It isnt fresh in your mind.

One of the great things about the review threads is their near rarity. Every month at MOST, you see all these opinions, and it is an intresting read. You do it for every book in a seperate forum, and it becomes bland and stale fast.

I told you this was being talked about! :)

My proposal, just coming the books and comics element, and under a different title!

Still, happy that it has eventuated!
