Do you think that the new Old Republic Era books are going to be about...KOTOR ? (Without spoilings, admit that a book on the fall of Dark Revan would be more interesting than one about Dark Sidious...)

Also, is the Admiral Zaarin and the Missile Boat have an existence beyond Tie Fighter ? (For the ons not knowing it, Tie Fighter is a very old game, the only SW games with Thrawn in it. Storyline wise, it's shows among others things the conception of the Cloaking Shield..and Thrawn first use of it)

The Old Rebublic novels are most likely going to feature all new characters, with perhaps the odd cameo or reference to some other story.

And there is no furhter continuation of stuff contained in TIE fighter, unless one counts the strategy guides, and various reference books released over the years.

The TIE Fighter storylines have been expanded upon in reference material like character guides and "Who's Who" articles, I believe, but not specific sequel stories.

Try tracking down a copy of the SW Insider that contains the "Who's Who" article on the Grand Admirals.

Missile Boats appear in X-Wing Alliance but not XvT.

Jeremy Barlow (editor of the new Tales) is researching KotOR for use in the series, but unfortunatley he's not enjoying it very much at the minute... :(

the only SW games with Thrawn in it.

    not entirely correct,
IIRC Thrawn appeared in the PC game Rebellion
also Thrawn appears in the SW:CCG (not a computer game, but it is a game)

While not a game, Thrawn also appeared in a Game spinoff novel and audio drama adaptation, "Dark Forces: Soldier for the Empire".

I don't remember exactly, but did he make a brief voice-over appearance in X-wing Alliance?

As for tiefighter you'll want to hunt down the "Stele Chronicles, and Tie Fighter: CD-rom Strategy guide, for further prose novelization.

Possibly, since it is so popular, but I doubt it.

The only thing I've wondered about as far as TIE Fighter being mentioned outside the game is the TIE Advanced. It was always called the TIE Advanced in the game, but on starwars.com and the new guide to ships it's called the TIE Avenger. Why is that?

Oh, and my signature is from the end of TIE Fighter.

It was called "TIE Avenger" in the game as well. It was the nickname for the TIE Advanced created by the pilots of the fighters. It became popular and then got used more than "TIE Advanced", though both are interchangable.

Stele Chronicles the novella that came with the original TIE fighter explains that destinction.

I think I lost that novella, but I never once heard the TIE Advanced referred to as the avenger. I have the collectors CD-ROM, with full voice clips for everything, so maybe they changed something.

    Here's the quote from the stele chronicles;

"The superiority of this newest TIE starfighter is such that the TIE pilots are already giving it the nickname "TIE Avenger," as it is widely held that the TIE advanced represents an oppurtunity for redemption after the Rebel's treachery at Yavin."-Stele Chronicles, pg 80.

I believe that the CCG is why it's mostly called the "TIE Avenger" now. (I'm assuming that they called it that so that it didn't get confused with the "TIE Advanced x1" card.)

You run into the Chimera performing live fire excercises at one point, and the ship yells at you. Whether it's Thrawn doing the yelling or a comm officer is entirely unknown...

The CCG, also abreviates it the TIE/Ad(I.E. Tie Advanced) on the card as well, same abreviation as in Stele Chronicles.

It was mentioned once as the "Avenger"

It's already been pointed out Decipher mentioned the Avenger. The X-wing Strategy Guide also mentions that TIE Pilots refered to the TIE/Ad as the Avenger, the TIE Fighter Strategy Guide probably also refers to it as so and may do so in more than just the technical section. The NEGtVaV has a TIE Avenger entry on page 196. The EGtVaV states in the first paragraph of the Darth Vader's TIE Fighter entry that the TIE/Ad was dubbed the Avenger. The OS has an article on the Avenger. Under the OS's entry on the TIE Advanced x1 (Vader's TIE) it mentions the Avenger.

Okay, okay, I realize it's mentioned as the Avenger everywhere else. I still didn't here it mentioned in the CD-ROM game once. If you give me a battle and mission number, then I'll believe you.

It was one obscure line in the game, sue me if I can't remember which battle and which mission it was mentioned in the game. However it does exist in the manual that came with the game, so that means something doesn't it?

Yes, I know. Sorry. Whatever. Plus, the new guide to ships also refers to Darth Vader's TIE as being the TIE Advanced, so it has to be called something else.

Vader's TIE was the TIE x1, a TIE Advanced prototype. Both it and the Avenger are TIE Adavances.

"Okay, okay, I realize it's mentioned as the Avenger everywhere else. I still didn't here it mentioned in the CD-ROM game once. If you give me a battle and mission number, then I'll believe you."

I think its the last mission (5?) of battle 2: the Sepan Civil War - Guard Resupply or something similar.

It's the last mission where you are still working for Admiral Harkov and his VSD is being resupplied with new fighters that are being flown over from the ESC Tropsobor. The fleet comes under attack from Riplobus and Dimok forces (YWings, Z95s, a CRL, a Frigate, some escort shuttles, a couple of Corvettes and a couple of CARGs) and you need to protect the TAs, the ESC and the VSD.

The TIE Avenger reference is in the briefing I think, if not it's early on in the mission when the Tropsobor first turns up.

    Hope that helps.
