I don't know if I'm the only one who feels this way, but Gavin Darklighter is one of my favorite EU characters. A pilot who is does not have force abilities, but is still very skilled at what he does. He always reminded me of Wedge, but doesn't seem to get nearly as much respect as Wedge does. So here's to you Gavin.
I'm surprised there wasn't already a Gavin fanclub. I'm enjoying reading him ego-busting Jaina as Rogue Leader right now.
Gavin was a great Character. There should have been an X-Wing series after NJO following him around leading the Rogues.
I do wish we had found out what happened to Asyr or whatever the Female Bothan's name was that he fell in love with in the X-Wing books.
We did find out. She was mentioned in one of the Stackpole NJO books. I want to say Onslaught but I'm not sure. She's the one of the instructors Admiral Kre'fey had at the Bothan Martial Academy.
Gavin was such a lovely character, he was one of my favorites in the X-Wing books (after Corran, Tycho and Wedge of course) . I loved his reappearance in the NJO, too see him grown up, married and with kids. It was very nice. I feel a bit sad that he somehow disappeared completly after DN, at least as far as I remember he was never mentioned again, was he? I always feel sorry, when a character is just disappearing...
Anyone else disappointed they hooked him up with some woman instead of getting him back together with Asyr?
I was more disappointed Gavin didn't tell his family about Asyr when he and Corran visited Tatooine in one of the later Rogue Squadron books. Aside from that I always liked Gavin. I even liked him in that book and those scenes actually, I just wonder why he told his family everything about his life except the part that he was dating Asyr.
I don't think anyone told him Asyr wasn't dead. I wish we knew more about his lady, so we can judge her relentlessly, to make sure she's good enough for him or something.
His wife was Sera Faleur, of Chandrila. (Her sister Reina briefly dated Wedge at one point!) After Gavin recovered from Asyr's 'death', he set about adopting the two orphaned boys that lived in an alley near Rogue Squadron Headquarters. Sera was the social worker who handled the case. In the process, they fell for each other, and they ended up getting married. People teased them about their 'mixed' marriage (Tatooine x Chandrila, how will it ever work out? ) They had three children; a girl, a boy and then another girl. Does that help?
