Sorry Lowie, just checked at random. Quite happy to have pushed my favorite president over the finish line. I'd head out to Sagamore Hill this weekend to celebrate, but I foolishly moved across the ocean.

Do the Kings of England, but change the rules: an assassination gets five points

I'm not too keen on the awarding of points for eliminations - if you do that I fear plenty of presidents/monarchs/rulers/whoever getting reduced down to 3-4 points then just sitting there since people would be afraid of letting someone else swoop in and get it (this is how HL&S got so many eliminations - holding back and then pouncing when someone got into the kill zone). People would be less inclined to 'finish off' anybody lest someone else grabs it.

I'd like to re-submit my proposal, that is if you successfully eliminate someone you just get a bonus 2 points to add/remove off any other individual still standing in that same post. Simple and easy. Beyond that though I don't think any rules need to be added or changed.

Well now that we've finished, I'll post my strategy: quite simply I identified who I wanted to win early on (Teddy) then simply went about knocking everyone else out wherever I could (usually whoever had the least amount of points remaining), irrespective of what I thought about them (as far as I was concerned all barring one were going to 'lose' anyway so the order made little difference).

The only time I deviated from this was when Teddy started getting knocked down about 2/3rds of the way through the game - he recovered but I figured it was time to aim for the biggest competitors (Washington & Lincoln) and so started concentrating on them. I have to say to you Lincoln defenders - you screwed up letting me get Lincoln so damn low in the first place (4 points initially); I was expecting some form of defense to kick in around the 20 point mark (like Teddy received) and was prepared to let it go when that happened, but when no one stepped in Lincoln just got lower and lower until finally I just became determined to knock him out. :p This also worked well in tandem with Raven and Coruscant who were knocking off Washington and pushing up Teddy respectively. Having nearly everyone else tied up with Carter also helped as well.

I'd be curious to know who everyone was hoping would win. :)

I was the one who tried to take out Teddy (overrated bully & Imperialist). It didn't work because I also tried to defend the two Presidents that actually saved the Republic in their day, namely Washington and Lincoln.

That didn't work because three (four?) of you wanted the Legend in His Own Mind--Raven and I forget who else (if it was you as you claim). Actually neither of the Roosevelts were first-rate, but I was surprised at the lack of enthusiasm for FDR.

Re: Jimmy Carter. There was a good defense of him, but as a President he was wasn't toward the middle; he was toward the bottom. A lightweight weakling. Obama is unfortunately shaping up the same way if he doesn't snap to it pretty soon. Granted it's a lot harder to be a good President these days.

I wanted the result to be weird, and that's why I voted Carter all the time. It worked... a top three of Roosevelt/Lincoln/Washington or something like that would have been boring.

    Peanuts FTW!
