Amazon is odd, it gives Feb for PB but June for HB! Could be US/UK dates I suppose.
I just hope it's not too long of a wait, I'm really enjoying RSURS.
Yeah, Amazon's had several dates. I'm trying to not get my hopes up too high -- Lynch's website, LJ and Twitter haven't been updated in several months, and it doesn't seem to be promoted as coming out soon elsewhere
I thought that Lynch said he had turned everything a few mnts ago when he said his depression was over and we were looking at very early 11? Im confused now! lol
He was still struggling with it in October - however, he said he's on a bit of an upward swing, so that is totally possible. I guess we'll see next month
In that case, no. I say June. Even if Lynch has wrote like a man possessed and finished the manuscript, there's still the editing, design, printing to be done, doubt that can be done that quickly.
Yeah, I haven't heard anything lately but I'm going to guess February's not happening. Fingers crossed for midyear.
Just finished TLOLL. It was really good. I liked the interludes that related to what was about to happen in the present story. The one thing it took me a while to like was his writing style. It annoyed me when he would swith POVs from paragraph to paragraph, and sometimes there was no clear POV. By the end I liked it though. It felt like someone was telling me a story. Great book. Now on to Red Seas Under Red Skies.
Glad you enjoyed it!!
Amazon still lists it as coming out the 17th, and I've seen "Spring 2011" several places (and one that claimed Lynch turned the book in a year ago, so it's written but just going through publication and editing stuff), but nothing I really trust . . . especially with the lack of promotion.
I do like that cover they are displaying for it though.
Oh, me too I liked the purple one, but I like this very much.
Is this the cover that looks like it's being inspired by Venetian formal dress?
Finished Red Seas Under Red Skies. It was really good. A little piratey for me but I came around. [hl=black]I'm pretty sure Locke will live. Hopefully there was no poison at all.[/hl]
[hl=black]Yeah, I don't see how they'd get away with killing the main character.
I didn't like that Jean's girlfriend died [/hl]
[hl=black]Yeah that was sad but I thought she might be killed seeing how Calo, Galdo, and Bug were killed. I wonder if we'll finally meet Sabetha in the next book. Everytime a new female character was introduced I thought it might be her in disguise.[/hl]
I'm amused that you're using HTR on stuff from a book published... how long ago now?
[hl=black]We will be seeing here - all the summary bits mention her. Apparently she and Locke aren't on very friendly terms anymore.[/hl]
Yeah we finally get to see her in Republic and it seems that her and Locke are on opposing teams.
I didn't care for that either. Not that I was in love with the character, but I was a little annoyed that the end of the book was basically a reset to the status quo at the beginning. To not have a new group dynamic, or situation, come out of it was a little disappointing. Also, I think the series needs more overarching characters than just Locke and Jean.
There's a new Audio Interview with Scott Lynch on the Orion website in four, 5 minute segments talking about everything from the first two books, influences, Republic of Thieves and his depression.
2011 is still mentioned as the release, one of the other tabs has November 2011 as the release now, fingers crossed!
[link=http://www.orionbooks.co.uk/books/the-republic-of-thieves-hardback#Extras]The link for the interview, it's under the 'extras' tab.[/link]
November sounds about right to me.
Ooo, thanks for the link!! I'll have to have a listen
It's great to have a somewhat definite date
Didn't read all the posts but which website is it going to be published?
