FF:NZ the good things about Episode 1

Its on TV 3 tonight, and I thought rather than focus on the negative aspects which so often happens when Episode 1 is mentioned, I thought it be fitting that we pay a tribute to the positive aspects of the film (which in my mind outweigh the negative.) I must say I apreciate Episode 1 much more now since the story has developed throughout the rest of the new trilogy.

My favorite things about The Phantom Menace:

The Music - Duel of the Fates rocks!
The Technology - the Naboo N1 is my favourite behind the X-Wing
The Duels - Darth Maul vs Obi Wan and Qui Gonn

Kiera Knightly

Nuff Said.

The costumes....

Ewan.

Both are eye candy of one kind or another in this setting.

Am I allowed to say Jar Jar?

I really liked the character of Qui-Gon ... so sad when he died I had no idea they were showing it on tv ... I walked into the lunchroom at work and saw Qui-Gon's funeral scene, and had to do a double-take

I like "Episode 1" and get a little tired of people slagging it off.

I also get sick of people slagging off ep1!

The podracing scenes rock!

The fight scenes between the 2 jedi and darth maul

obi wans opening line "I have a bad feeling about this" classic star wars.

I'm still out on jar jar he does provide a little comic relief but he's soooooo stupid!

Good points:

Duel of the fates score
Final lightsabre battle
Qui Gonn
Seeing the Jedi Council for the first time
Pod racing

Low points:

Jar Jar
Travelling from Otoh Gunga to Theed City
Anakin's 'mates'
Lots of Anakins dialogue
Kinda slow through the middle


But generally i like it, some parts i can just skip thru on the dvd and that suits me fine

Yea, I'm glad someone else thinks Qui gon (as a whole, and just by himself) is a high point. Liam is the man.

I'm a fan of the whole thing. I can still remember JP seeing it first and telling me I'm going to LOVE the podrace scene... he was not wrong.

One thing that is awesome about the first episodes, but generally suck in the bigger picture. Are the saber duels. Watching Luke beat Vader is like, "OMG, this, actually really sucks!" I mean, sure - maybe he might lose some flare after becoming Vader, but really the prequels duels are kinda over-done compared to the Luke - Vader one"

But! In saying that, these would have flopped if they didn't have kick arse scenes like yoda fighting and ani being all bad ass (for lack of a better term )

just my little grip after watching the originals on DVD recently.

I quite liked Episode 1, I thought it was done quite well. I loved the final fight with that was great, the pod race was great, Oui-Gon was a great character and Ewan played Obi-Wan very well.

Good Points

Anytime Anakin or Jar Jar opened there mouth expecially when Anakin says yippee. I just keep saying shut up shut up shut up.

"Sabre" looks like some handmaiden's name.

I think Darth Maul was cool, also Naboo looks like a nice place to live. So beautiful.
