I'm not kidding! We read the book, then watching the movie in class - as usual I was paying close attention ;) - well, okay I was half asleep. Anyways Dr. Mannet is the same actor as the one who played Tarkin in a New Hope. I tried not to laugh - it was really funny; he had a long beard and hair :p

    Anyone else see the movie?

We saw a clip from a Dracula movie he was in when we were studying Dracula in 10th grade English.

Shame it wasn't a scene with Christopher Lee in it too.

    Rick McCallum loves you!

The Tale of Two Cities is my all-time favorite book. And yes, I've seen that movie version--it did take me a little while to figure out that Peter Cushing played Alexandre Manette though. But it just shows what a great and versatile actor he was.

I love the title of this thread. I know I'm truly among Star Wars fans when Peter Cushing -- a highly renowned, very widely known actor for decades -- is reduced to "the guy who played Tarkin."

Lol - Yes, my ambition for this thread was to demean great actors [face_plain]

I suppose that maybe I should of called this thread "The actor who played Tarkin..."

    *sigh* ;) :p

"I think it is time we demonstrate the full power of Peter Cushing".

Peter Cushing is one of best actors in all cinema history.

He could play the good guy (Sherlock Holmes, Dr. Val Helsing) just as good the bad guy (Dr.Frankenstein, and Tarkin, just to name a few).

He was involved in a lot of Hammer films, case in point "Dracula" (1958), "The Mummy" (1959), and a bunch of Frankenstein's movies.

He always gave superb performances, even in low budget films.

So, the title of this thread is "disturbing".

*Wonders when Harrison Ford will be known as "the guy who played Han Solo".*

Or else he'll be remembered as "That guy who played Jack Ryan/Indiana Jones/Rick Deckard/Dr. Richard Kimball."

I think a more appropriate one would be Alec Guiness being remembered as Obi-wan

    are you people completely uncultured?

There are other movies than StarWars
