You're unaware of the big controversy about his character change, from book to movie?

Which is why I was attempting to educate him, because his statement was wrong.

No reason to need to say "Yup, I said it." :p
I like them about the same...which is a lot.
However, your signature seems to disagree with your statement.

Film Faramir is a very different character from Book Faramir. Film Faramir is really flawed and takes the ring the wrong way, to use for himself and Gondor, whereas the point of Book Faramir is that he sends Frodo on his way, he doesn't give in to the Ring's temptation.

For one thing...a long time passes between the Party in LotR and Frodo heading off. The discovery of the necromancer and such in Hobbit had already happened (like 100 years or so prior) in the book world, etc.
And Tolkien figured out things down to (in LotR) the Phases of the moon on the passing days, so even minor changes to the timeline throw that stuff off...

I suppose that after all this I should mention that I really like the films, too...
Even Hobbit:AUJ, although I think it went downhill after the first almost-perfectly done and paced hour or so.

I think i knew that part where in the book, it took, what a year? for Frodo and the others to leave the Shire but in the movie, he left immediately, and how does my signature disagree with my statement, my sig says Anakin Skywalker is the best which i was referring to that he is the best character in Star Wars :p

    But it just says best.

There are years from the party until they realize they need to take the Ring to rivendell, mand then about a year before Frodo leaves, because he wants to leave when he is 50, like bilbo did.

Methinks the poster doth not watch Clone Wars. And is biased. And wrong.
Anakin is a male Human, not a female dog.

By erasing the point of the character.
But I'd rather not tangent any more than necessary.
Suffice to say, they're different, which was the only reason I brought it up.

    I don't think it's a big problem.

The movie did a few good changes, such as the scene of Gandalf saved Theoden, Arwen played important part rather than a nobody.

Eowyn as a character is portrayed more realistic in the movies. While her love story is still too rushed like in the novel.

You are biased, technically. Also incorrect, as I established. But it really doesn't matter.

    I don't think it's terrible, but I don't particularly like the change.
And really, the only reason I brought it up was to point out that there are changes in both characters and timelines in the films.

    /both tangents.

I read the books many times these days for my fanfic, I think it would better to "kill off" Gandalf in either the first or the second book, because the heroes, the mortals should learn to handle the war by themselves, just like Luke didn't rely on Obi Wan in RotJ, even had to prove Obi Wan was wrong on Vader.

Ah, as in everyone is biased, including you. And you've established naught. We do agree that it doesn't matter, though.

Yes, actually, as in everyone is biased somehow, and you have clearly demonstrated your (rather unreasonable) bias.
I actually have established that Anakin Skywalker is a male Human, not a female dog. Unless you've been talking about your pets this whole time.
    Also, he isn't particularly small.

But this is really developing a pointless tangent.

    Back sorta on topic....
Honestly...probably yes. I'm slightly worried about how they'd handle it, though. It could be really cheesy after the Necromancer...

So you've lived your life entirely void of the concept of "slang"? Or you're getting precious about a fictional character. If that's the case, go and have a crying **** and clear your head.

No, just focusing on semantics because I don't really want a long drawn out argument about Anakin in a thread about Tolkien...
