Is AUJ only being released on Blu-ray, not DVD?[/quote] Heres the new for the hobbit release date and its also going to be on both blu-ray and DVD http://www.dvdsreleasedates.com/movies/5276/The-Hobbit-An-Unexpected-Journey-2012.html
May have to get this to tide myself and my son over until The Desolation of Smaug arrives in December.
The incredible (and somewhat sad) story of a real-life Dwarf woman, by The Guardian. Who knows, maybe Tolkien heard of her and used her tale as an inspiration for the most resilient women of his Middle-Earth? I like to imagine that he did, and if it is so, it would indeed be a truly heartwarming gesture... Cheers, Lauré
On that note, we just watched LOTR: FOTR for the first time since seeing The Hobbit, and even without having seen the next two Hobbit installments yet it already felt like it flowed somehow. Like the opening scenes of FOTR really are enhanced by having seen The Hobbit. I know this is by design, but it was still pretty cool.
Okay so the relationship between Bilbo and Thorin has been resolved so that they're now friendly. Are they going to fall out of favor again in these next two movies? I honestly thought Thorin would come to terms with Bilbo's usefulness towards the ending of part 2?

Just a wee question... When do we change the title of this thread from TH:AUJ to TH:TDOS? Cheers, Lauré
Or just call it a general Tolkien thread, since I don't think there is one, or it's deeply buried int the bowels of the Amph.
I'd say let's change it after the first TDOS trailer, which should come out, I believe, sometime in March.
Fair enough. And maybe after the Hobbit trilogy is out, we could make this thread a general Tolkien discussion, as @Todd the Jedi suggested. Cheers, Lauré
