Zack Snyder just confirmed that the Man Of Steel trailer is going to show with The Hobbit. On top of 9 minutes of footage from the newest Star Trek previewed in the Imax 3D showings of the film. I believe a woman may die of geekgasm yet. Henry Cavill + Christopher Pine + Richard Armitage = be still, my beating heart... Cheers, Lauré
Indeed, m'dear. How very remiss of me to have forgotten him...Please accept my humblest apologies. Cheers, Lauré
You know, I was planning on getting my parents to take me to a 3D 48fps showing at Christmas so I don't have to pay for it but can still discuss it... but now I have to make sure it's IMAX. As a fellow huge Benedict fan, I'm sure my mom will go in for this. My only question was if this is just opening day or the whole IMAX run. It kind of sounded like the former, which would be really stupid.
Interesting article on the Tolkien Estate - WB lawsuit Personally, I hope Tolkien Estate et al. win this. Having the production company claim they "didn't make any money" out of the LOTR films was bad enough (wtf?!), and while I don't agree with Christopher Tolkien that the films "eviscerated" the books, I think online slot machines, hotels and restaurants are way over the line.
While I don't really care to take sides with incredibly wealthy entities squabbling over money, it's absurd that copyright law allows estates to retains rights to work that's 75 years old and 40 years after the author's death. Chris Tolkien has a bunch of **** he wrote/edited himself and Warner Bros. certainly makes enough off just the films and film-related merchandising, and to hell with HarperCollins. Hobbit and LotR should be long in the public domain.
SJ, apparently after the midnight at the Chinese, we're going to the IMAX 3D showing the next morning for the Star Trek trailer.
Whatever the movie itself is going to be, PJ has already gave us a movie worth of educational entertainment. And remember that watching the movie = 170 minutes. Being in the hype = many years.
Live stream of the premier red carpet etc on Wed from 4pm (NZDT) on tv3.co.nz. Hopefully not geo-blocked.
Department of Internal Beard-Hairs! I absolutely love web docs like that. There's a definite sense of proximity to the finished product. Not only for those working on the production, but for impatient nerds like me. The home straight! I know we've all seen the same sort of thing in many other docs (LotR especially), but for me it never gets old. Everyone is clearly under enormous pressure, but at the same time enjoying the time of their lives. That's a balance I'm sure every one of us would value in our working lives. They're reaching the end of film one, and they're exhausted, but you can just tell nobody would rather be anywhere else for the next few years. Also, a mic at Abbey Road that John Lennon sang into.
Yeah but the thing is, I refuse to pay for it. Hence why I will watch it with my dad the next week at Christmas because he's a blind early adopter who will spend money on any useless tech "advancement"... so I can get him to pay for it and then I'll be able to talk to you guys about it
