Greetings , In my typical fashion I will get a bit off the topic from the commun PRJO disscusion.I have created this thread to talk (and rant) about everything horror; every aspect, theme , fiend , movie , novel , ect. that exemplifies what your definition of horror is. I shall begin: Clive Barker's Cenobites: [image=http://www.houseofhorrors.com/cgallery.jpg] "In moments they would be here- the ones Kircher had called the Cenobites, theologians of the Order of the Gash. Summoned from their experiments in the higher reaches of pleasure , to bring their ageless heads in to a world of rain and failure." Clive Barker , "The Hellbound Heart" British author Clive Barker pushed ( and quite frankly broke) the known limits of horror when he created his novella "The Hellbound Heart". The center of the "The Hellbound Heart" ( and the Hellraiser movies aswell) is a small puzzle box. Once the engaging puzzle is solve , hell will come for you! The ambasadors of hell are the cenobites. Their area of expertise is the fine line between pleasure and suffering. Horrible , yet beautiful ( alright, use your imaginations guys) at the same time ; they are sex incarnated. For me , Clive Barker's novel and movie represent horror's ability ( and perhaps resposability) to venture into what we as a society consider "taboo". This time around, Barker wrote a story that is directly related to human sexuality ( especially sado-masochism) , yet doesn't only depend on pure shock. Both the book and the movie are amazingly original.
