    I'm still alive, just so everyone knows. I've just been uber-busy with school, and I just found out that I was hired at GameStop so I'll be on here very infrequently. I'll make it a point to be at the Christmas party but probably not anything before that.
    I miss you guys!

    Last weekend the Wifey, Rochelle, + I went on a 5 mile hike in Wrightwood. This is what we went to -----> Big Horn Mine. Perched on the east face of Mount Baden-Powell, this mine dates back to 1896 when gold was first discovered in a gold-bearing quartz vein. The old stamp mill built by civil-war veteran and fugitive Tom Vincent aka Dougherty is still standing today, however sadly defaced by a good amount of graffiti.

    Most of the trail is on a dirt fire road either lined with trees or wonderful views. There are maybe a couple of rocky parts but they aren't that much of an obstacle. The mine itself supposedly has 8,700 feet (1.647 miles) of tunnel that is still accessible.

    We went in about 50 or so yards before turning around as we didn't know you could actually go inside. We didn't have enough light even with the five people who were there going in as we got there. They offered to take us as they've been inside before.(see pics)

    We decided we'll come back with lots of light for the journey. Apparently, they've got a few inside lakes and these really big rooms in there. So, that said and the fact you can go for at least a mile or so in there with lots to see, we're gonna come back for sure!

    Here's a few pics with link to the rest, enjoy...

    The mine entrance is right to my head

    A closer look at the structure. Too bad there's graffiti. Was thinking about bringing some brown paint to cover it up

    [image=http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu324/Parkersuperpics/Wrightwood%20Mine%20Hike%2010%2009/WrightwoodMineHike1009061.jpg]

    This was how far we went before turning around. Notice in the next pic of Sheila and Rochelle walking back to entrance where we came in

    We'll have to plan on a trip next year as our calender is getting filled up for the rest of the year and before long it'll be snowed in with no way to get to it if you saw the other pics. There were a couple of spots that were a little rocky with a thin path. It'll give us something to look forward to! :)

    I've been to that mine before, but not deep into it.
    So today was my first day of work, and this little kid called asking if he could pay for a new game in 70 dollars worth of quarters. Needless to say I referred him to the bank or a CoinStar machine. It was a good laugh.

    A good time of year for a hike like that would be late March or April.

    I might not show up to that one. I'll be bike-camping around that time. :)

    LOL great story about the quarters, Kris! Kids do say the darndest things. [face_laugh]

    I made nice with the Owner of the Halloween store here in Apple Valley and he let me have these. I was thinking we could use these for next year when we start doing raffling, say with free comic book day and next years SWN in May at the library in Rancho.

    This is the promo standee for Celebration 5 and a two sided high quality life size poster for the clone wars. Very high quality indeed. Someone would be glad to have this for sure. I'm going to see about adding our logo in some way to this as well.:)

    Saw these at Target. The Yoda tree topper is about a foot tall and lights up. The little figures have a push button that have the real voice and phrases from each of them. They say about ten different things each.
