Brilliant! Shooting ewoks is legal - now if only it was legal to shoot at the rabbits that are everywhere around my place . . .

So some crossbows can be reloaded in less than a minute? Snazzy! Never mind, I've been known to shoot upwards of eight arrows in a minute (pretty average rate of shooting on a speed shoot), so I reckon I can still make life uncomfortable for people with crossbows. As for hitting people - I shoot for the local team, and placed fourth in my league last year. I can probably hit what I'm shooting at - although I don't usually shoot at moving targets for safety reasons, the distances in here should make the job easier. And if I make a mess of it, I can always finish the job with my scramseax. Ewok kebabs, anybody?:p

Even if it wasn't legal that hasn't stopped any one here from doing so or well trying to do so :p

There are such things as repeating crossbows though which fire I believe 5 bolts but take longer to reload. Besides if you are a good shot you only need one bolt to finish the job

Ditto one shot with a recurve bow. Besides, my shield should cope with a crossbow bolt or two - handy, as it means I can still get a drink even when the bartenders are in bad moods!;)
As for the repeating crossbow, how would that work, exactly? I can figure out a gravity feed of bolts, but I can't work out how you'd get the string re-drawn quickly enough. Some help, please?

Anyara, this is ewok, my e-twin, that you are talking about. No logic is needed with him. ;)

you are thinking to close along the line of a rifle in respect to the repeatin crossbow, who said it has to only have one string? The one I am working on designing is similar to the one in the movie Gladiator

What can I say? The bows I'm familiar with have one string and one string only. Stringing, maintenance, and actual shooting are rather less complicated that way, from a mechanical and physics point of view.

You can hear my scientist side coming out, can't you?

The one I am working on is designed with two of the "bow" (for the life of me I can't remember the correct medieval word for it) of the cross bow with two strings to each one, when the two strings are use on the first bow you can "flip" to using the bottom two strings for a total of 4 bolts but getting it to work properly is tricky

Do you mean the limbs of the crossbow (such as they are)?

Yeah basically, the hardest part is getting it right so when the bottom "limb" flips to the top the crossbow doesn't break

I can play any class in D&D but I usually end up playing fighters to counter all the magic users in my party

I play D&D with some band geeks from high school :p

I would never have guessed from your comments recently in the HIM thread [face_plain]

I play fighters to be meat shields for weak spell casters, though I did once play a minoutaur barbarian

At the risk of sounding uneducated in popular culture, what is D&D?

 D&D = Dungeons and Dragons, which if you don't know is a D20 RPG

Oh and you are very correct sis, logic and I don't see eye to eye very much :p

It is odd Trim, I haven't seen a lounge this alive since I first started people trying to kill me :p

I've heard of Dungeons and Dragons, but never played anything of the like. I prefer early-period mediaeval re-enactment: the weapons are real, and it all depends on your skill with said weapons and your grasp of tactics and strategy. It's great fun!
