I may be confusing EU with Fan Fiction, but I believe each of the ten(?) Grand Admirals were given an SSD?

    Hello out there.

Jedi Satimber: Thrawn did not have an SSD, he had a regular 'ol SD called "Chimaera."

    Whipping a dead horse

Okay, my problem here is that I know a fan writer who does Imperial-based stories involving Thrawn and Palpatine that are so good, that I confuse them with the proper EU stuff.

So, here is where I'm coming from and getting confused.

I have read about a mistake that Thrawn made once, which lost him his SSD, but I don't know the source.

The Star Wars Encyclopaedia indicates that Pallaeon and the Chimaera were at the Battle of Endor (which Thrawn was not), and that on returning from the Unknown Regions, Thrawn selected the Chimaera as his flagship.
It was not the Grand Admiral's original flagship.

    J

Southernjedi, according to the WEG Imperial Sourcebook, an Impstar II has 50 heavy turbolaser batteries, and 50 heavy turbolaser cannons.

My memory does indicate that Pallaeon and the Chimaera were at the Battle of Endor (which Thrawn was not), and Pallaeon ordered the Imperial fleet to withdraw.
Later, on returning from the Unknown Regions, Thrawn selected the Chimaera as his flagship.
I am pretty certain that this is official, and that it wasn't the Grand Admiral's original flagship.

I remember the Pelleon and the Chimaera part...he taking over at the BoE and withdrawing....
I am fuzzy about the Thrawn parts though, except for the taking over of the Chimaera

While I, on the other hand, think of a VSD being called in to help save a planet from an incoming asteroid, chasing down the offensive rock and attempting to change it's course with concussion missiles and tractor beams.

I value grateful citizens more than dead ones, no matter what the Tarkin Doctrine says.

Hey, you must have read my story, then :) Because I've written a short story precisely on that topic - an ISD saving a planet from asteroid impact.

    Wow, Moff'!

No, I haven't read your story, but if you have done one, it'll save me the trouble of working out how to do it. Has it been published yet (online, storyzine, etc.)?

My Victory-class vessel has rescued one of Vader's ISDs from the asteroid field in ESB, - story called 'Dodgems' - but we haven't tackled the planet rescue yet.

    Nice going.

My story isn't in English (yet), but the outline is rougly as you mentioned - a Star Destroyer finds itself in an unknown system, whose only inhabited planet is threatened by an asteroid, and blasts the thing into oblivion. Only the situation on board gets a lot more heated about the subject...

And no, I'm probably not going to participate in RPG. My access to the 'net is somewhat limited.
