Customer comes to me yesterday and wants to buy a GPS system for his boat. He starts asking about the mapping features that come with it. He starts asking if there are any "Louisiana Pacific" maps installed on it.

I tell him if he gets the Nautic Insight version that it includes maps for all three coasts, Atlantic, Pacific, and Gulf of Mexico. He says no, he doesn't care about that, and again asks for "Louisiana Pacific" maps.
And once again I tell him that Nautic Insight is the program he needs...the Louisiana coast is covered with the Gulf of Mexico charts and he gets the entire western seaboard as well, save for Alaska and Hawaii, which are programmed onto an SD card we could special order for him.

"NO DAMMIT! I want LOUISIANA PACIFIC maps! LOUISIANA!"

"Sir...the Pacific is west. California, Oregon, Washington. Are you wanting Louisiana specific maps?"

"YES! All the bayous around the Atchafalaya Basin!"

"I'm sorry sir, but Lowrance does not make any mapping for those areas. They tend to stay towards the big nationally-known areas...like Toledo Bend and False River."

And this guy throws a fit, screams he's going somewhere else and storms out the door. Good luck to him, because nobody else makes or sells electronic charts for those areas either. Best he's ever going to do is get an NOAA aerial paper chart.

I've watched a few episodes or these various shrimping programs.
I am well aware of the illiteracy in Louisiana. Some of the dumbest people I've ever seen.
I congratulate you Lee on not giving in to this man's lack of education.

Probably not, since there are people who actually say "Pacific" instead of "specific."

Nope. I have the exact same BRO-NOLA accent, common to those us who live between Ba'anrooj and N'orlins. (Holy cow I think I just invented a few new Star Wars planets!)

He was saying "Pacific". No "s".

Is being pacific as important as being earnest?
