Hey folks... long time no see.

I've been busy of late and haven't had my JC time, and in logging back on, I was reminded of something that I sorely regretted not finishing... that being my history of the JC. Then I remember why I didn't finish it.

The reason being it was wrong. Just plain wrong. This is simply because it is the (enlightened ;-) ) view of one man. History has taught me better than that. It has taught me to learn from others and that one view is never correct. This is where you folks come in (ESPECIALLY OLDBIES!)...

I need your thoughts one certain events. I need your synopsies of the JC History as you would write it (in 500 words or more due on my desk by next Friday). But seriously, I want to collect a historical view of the "JC Experience" that encorporates as many viewpoints as possible. For this, I will send out some mail to some people I would like to hear from, but the meat of it will come from you folks who have been around here for a time or two.

    Possible topics are:

    Golden Age
Misc., it's not just about movies anymore.
    Gonks and Groups
    Trailer A Flood
    Trailer B Flood
    The Evolution of Prequel Speculations
TPM Released and the Dam Breaks
Bashers and Gushers with some Slackers
    Administrative "fopaws"
The Bridge to today.. where is the JC going?

Feel free to PM (email not working) me some thoughts on some of these topics. I hope to hear from people who have expereinced this and synthesize everyone's thoughts into one nice big source on the subject.

This is your chance oldbies.. you are now given the opportunity to play the part of the grizzled old historian/war hero/whatever on A&E's Biography of the JC. You are the experts.. not me. I just claim editorial rights.

That said, send me your thoughts (or post them here) on the first two or so topics and I'll try to put together some synthesis of them in a week or two.

My ongoing quest to identify the history of the JC WILL continue. I hope you will help me.

For reference sake, here is my first attempt at a JC history:

    http://boards.theforce.net/message.asp?topic=648741&page=1

Also, if anyone has more topics they feel should be encorporated, speak up!

    MTFBWY

    Edit: Unlocking and upping.

Obviously I can't help out on most of the topics here, but if some people (hint, hint) would contribute, this could work out fine. As for the bridge to today's forums, I think one of the most significant differences is the isolation of forums.

Good thoughts bs... good to see you two MacDaddy K. And the Ian McD episode along with Darth Kimball are all good fodder for historical changes.

I guess what I was getting at, and didn't really say, is that if you want to contribute, regardless of when you joined, send me a PM on how you think the JC has changed while you have been around. Obviously the older members will simply have more to say on the subject.

Well, I couldn't really contribute much to this, since I've only been here for about 6 months, so I'll just say hi! :)

One sidenote: don't underestimate the words some rather newer members can say. Some can sound off in large essays as if the JC began when they arrived. History, as it is in the US, isn't generally regarded in the big picture, thus perspectives on the timeline a peice of history is not clear to many at all. Trust me, this can be _very_ scary.

    How about things like:

    The switch to Snowboard.
    Beal.
Appearance of the TPM Basher and Gusher factions.
(Can't think of any more right now)

I agree wholeheartedly bs... one of the reasons I would like to here more detailed thoughts from you... when you get time to put them together of course.

I will not refuse any words sent to me on the subject of the JC experience. They will ALL be used to add to the greater whole and crdit given for contributions.

How about the story of how Howlrunner22 conned his way to a staff position on TF.N and got administrative powers on the JC.N to boot?

    It really happened... =)

How do you wish to treat individual members that were well known? I bring this up because of CA's idea/joke on LC.

I guess that is a tough call there, bright sith. All history is told from points of view, and perhaps that is CA's point of view, opinion. Maybe someone can counter that point with a rebuttal and different view on the subject. I don't know. That really is a tough call.

No, the Ian McDiarmid incident was quite a thing. Allow me to shuffle through my memories as I try to describe what happened.

A couple of years ago, there was a poster called "Ian McDiarmid" who came to the forum. He said hi and introduced himself. He said he was very appreciative of his fans. Of course, we were very skeptical and dismissed the guy as being a troll. An IP search was done, and indeed, the poster was in Great Britain, where McDiarmid resides. Still, we weren't convinced. So we asked him some questions. He came back a few times, answered some questions (correctly), and was very polite. He said thank you again and left. He never came back again. The damndest thing I ever saw. Call me naive, but I think it was him.

    Here's his UID: http://boards.theforce.net/user.asp?usr=232543

Sadly, his posts (I think there were five total) were lost during the server move to Snowboards. :(
