I finished the book this afternoon and I am well pleased.
I told you that you'd like it.
How long till we can talk about it in here? Next week?
ok I'm 9 pages in and I got so excited I literally was running around my apt EEEEEEEEEEEEE!-ing. yeahhhhhhhhh!
Jag is great in this book. I mean, he's great always, but he's even better now :-D Can't wait for the rest of the series!
[hl=black]Not Jag related, but did anyone else laugh when Luke cautioned Ben on his language?[/hl]
Yes! My dad still does that to me, although not so much with my brothers.
Yeah I laughed at that Connie.
[hl=black]I loved the Luke/Ben dynamic [/hl] it was absolutely fantastic. Allston did such a great job with them in Fury and I was glad to see him continue that.
I think Hav, Ker and I should so send Allston the bill for the Jag as the Dark Knight thing... though.
That was a joke.
But I do believe that theory started last summer in this very thread.
What exactly are you referring to, I wonder? It's been almost a month since I read the book...
That didn't reach out and grab you, Ker?!
[hl=black]Had he been another man, he would have offered her some flippant gesture, but he was Jagged Fel, known among pilots and Jedi everywhere as tghe most humorless -
Come to think of it, he wasn't Jag Fel right now. He was a mystery man, and needed for his role in this affair never to be associated with Jag Fel. So he blew a kiss to Zilaash Kuh before resuming his seat and slamming the hatch shut. Kuh's vehicle dropped farther behind until it was lost in the distance.
All of this while he has his savvy armor and helmet on... of course.[/hl]
You're going to have to walk me through this one obviously... I'm not seeing it.
I think it's one of those things you just have to see, my friend.
YES! This book had me laughing so much, and right from the start too
[hl=black]Jag was totally Batman here. Hideously rich badass dressing up in armor and black clothes, bringing along a ton of gadgets, and punching well above his weight in the crime-fighting arena? Yeah, baby. Yeah. If he got a jetpack, though, he could totally be Iron Man.[/hl]
Ah, yes. Now I see it.
Didn't I start that? *wonders* It was definitely either me or Havac...
[hl=black]If Jagged had a jetpack, wouldn't he be more like Boba Fett? As for him being similar to Batman, I really hope Jag doesn't sound like him. [/hl]
I hope he does. "SWEAR TO ME!"
I wonder if anyone would compare Jag to Batman if Chris Nolan had rejected the offer of making new Batman movies?
I'm pretty sure no one would compare Jag to Joel Schumacher version of Batman
*Rescues this from whatever page it was sitting on...*
You gotta love Jag! [hl=black]And how about that bit with the comlink? Closed casket funeral for him, diplomatic immunity for me.[/hl] :happy sigh:
Yeah, I liked that bit as well Empress.
I'm waiting to post my thoughts on Outcast until the highlight period is over. I do not like having discussions with highlight because it gives me a headache.
But I suppose we can talk about the reveal in Legacy. I know it's been fairly obvious for a long time that Jag was Fel I, but what do you all think about the timing? Was it good? Or should they have waited for the books to catch up?
No, the timing was bad, because they should have said it long before.
The timing actually doesn't really bother me one way or the other, as it's totally obvious -- we already "knew" it, so it doesn't really matter when it's officially confirmed. I do wish John would push forward a little more and reveal some unsafe info, really take advantage of his position to shape things for the better. I'd love to get a name for Roan Fel's dad, for example.
