If you could make one change to the story as a whole, what would it be? Why? How would it affect other plot points? 5 points.

I would not have let Ron leave Harry and Hermione. It showed a side of him that didn't surface often, and he happened because he was under the influence of the horcrux. It would mean he would be there with Harry and Hermione on some of their adventures, and might have meant that Harry's wand didn't break.

1. Hippogriff saliva: Produces a bubbly or carbonated effect in potions if combined with doxy breath. Useful for intimidation.
2. Doxy breath: Produces a bubbly or carbonated effect in potions if combined with hippogriff saliva. Has a foul smell, useful for inducing irritability.
3. Basilisk venom: Highly toxic, obviously! Also extremely corrosive and tends to erode metal cauldrons rapidly. Glass will dissolve more slowly, and basilisk scale is impervious to it. There are believed to be several spells in Parseltongue which will make materials more resistant to the venom, allowing the handling and use in larger concentrations; this raises questions as to whether Salazar Slytherin was responsible for some of the spellwork on Gryffindor's sword, since even goblin-forged metal can be dissolved. 6. Peacock tailfeather: famed for applications involving both beauty and vanity, a less well known function is to form the equivalent to a reed in a type of peculiar screeching instrument known to summon banshees. This is probably less well known because few people really want to summon banshees.
7. Sandalwood: As Muggles do, wizards use this in perfumery. It is also very beneficial in salves for the feet, and a sufficiently potent concoction will protect against both the Tarantallegra curse and the traditional accompaniment for people you really don't like--red hot shoes.

Have either Lupin or Tonks survive. Probably Tonks, as it seems fitting the the last of the Marauders dies saving the school he loved so. Little Teddy deserves to grow up knowing one parent, and Nymphadora, though she would grieve, would have a living reminder of the joy she shared with Remus, however brief it was.

5. Poppies - inhaling too much makes one light-headed and sleepy. Mass inhalation results in sleeping.

7. Ginger - added to healing potions to make them taste better.
8. Hibiscus petals - used primarily in love potions, also found rarely in memory potions.

Which of the characters who died in Book 7 would you have spared? Why? How would the overall storyline be affected by this change? May do up to 5. 10 points.

Nymphadora Tonks-Lupin ? I think it was cruel that both she AND Remus had to both kick the bucket. They both had finally found happiness and had a freaking kid! Teddy deserved to have ONE parent, dangit! The overall storyline? Eh, wouldn?t have changed much; the ending just wouldn?t have been so sad.

Remus Lupin ? Same reason as Tonks, really. Lupin is really the only family Harry has left anymore (if you don?t count the Dursleys). He?s the last link to Harry?s parents, and Teddy really deserved to have a father! Again, no story change, just happier ending (though maybe sad still if he lived and Tonks still died).

Hedwig ? Okay seriously, you killed his BIRD?? What did Hedwig ever do to JK? I mean, okay, what would Hedwig have done, really? She might have been helpful in communications between peoples, even though she?s really easy to spot, but did you have to kill his BIRD?

Fred Weasley ? George got maimed; wasn?t that good enough?! George was someone whom everyone liked, and was always such a good sport. He didn?t need to be killed off. Again, no story change; just happierness at the ending.

Moody ? Moody so could have kicked ass if he hadn?t died. He was a very powerful auror, and I think that some of the Order who died wouldn?t have if Moody had been there to lend a hand and fight as well.

1. Nathan Petrelli would be in Slytherin because he's a politican and a lawyer and therefore cunning. Plus, he's (almost always) loyal to his own/those who matter.
2. Peter Petrelli would be in Gryffindor because he has that gene that makes him be foolishly brave and heroic all the time. And because he's always trying to save the world.
3. Mohinder Suresh would be in Ravenclaw because you don't get to be a doctor by being stupid. Brillant and Indian=win/a formula for Ravenclaw [see Padma... usually]
4. Hiro Nakamura would be in Hufflepuff. While he is very brave, he is also very determined and a hard worker. He's also very loyal to people like his father and Ando. Especially Ando.
5. Noah Bennet would be in Ravenclaw because he's always thinking about three steps ahead and he's smart. It'd be a toss up between Ravenclaw and Slytherin for him thanks to his morally greyness, but Ravenclaw would win out in the end.

Bethany Latigid
Bethany receives the Wizarding Darwin Award for her work at the Atlantia Institute of Relations with Underwater Magical Creatures located in the middle of the English Channel. She was a young witch working an internship as an undersecretary to an ambassador. She oftened complained that the building was much too stuffy and too hot to work in properly. She was expected to dress formally for her job, and tried to wear as little as possible, but she still found it too hot.

She decided to cure her personal discomfort by opening a window. This resulted both in her own death and the death of four others as her level of the building flooded.



Humphry Puff
Humphry receives a Wizarding Darwin Award for his work at the practice of charms. He attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry as a young boy in the 70s, but admits he was never a good student. In order to improve his ability at charms, Humphry decided to practice them in front of a mirror to ensure that his form was correct. However, on this unfortunately day, he was attempting a transfiguration charm that changed an object into a tea-cup. Thrilled at getting the charm correct, he attempted it once more in the mirror, where the spell missed it's target, shot out, reflected off the mirror, and hit Humphry square in the chest, turning him into a small tea cup. He was not noticed as missing until his cleaning lady, seeing his wand on the floor, crossed the room to pick it up and stepped on a small tea cup that was beside it.



Sonny Thompson
Sonny wins our final award for the evening. He is the recipient of a Wizarding Darwin Award for attempting to murder his wife. Fed up with years of nagging and her inability to produce an heir, Sonny poisoned his wife's glass of wine. However, before he was able to give it to her, they got into a fight, which resulted in her storming out of the room. Sonny was so aggrivated that he downed his own glass of wine and then his wife's from the need for a drink. He then dropped dead seconds later.
