Yeah, I'm still shocked that The Long and Winding Road wasn't even nominated.

 

That's one of their best -- certainly one of McCartney's best, as his lyrics aren't always all that.

 

Yeah, did you see that he changed the writing credits on a bunch of songs on his recent concert record to "McCartney/Lennon"?

 

Pitiful. Like in that scene from Being John Malkovich, in McCartney's head everyone talks like this: "McCartney McCartney McCartney, McCartney -- McCartney! McCartney..."

 

Yeah, I guess at one point he even tried to take sole credit for a few songs like "Yesterday". It wouldn't be so bad if John wasn't dead.

 

He had the most ridiculous anecdote about it. How he was in a bar and saw a book with Beatles sheet music on the piano, of which the pages were too small to print the "McCartney" in "Lennon/McCartney". So it was as if all the songs were "Lennon". That worried him. You're 60, one of the most succesful and talented songwriters ever, and something like that worries you.

I know, the guy must have a serious inferiority complex or something, still thinking that he has to get out of John's shadow when the guy's been dead for twenty years. Sad really.
