Digging up the final rows of my Cara potatoes - Will leave them to dry out and then "sack them up" for the winter.

Well my sweetcorn has come a long from those little seedlings on my windowsill back in May.

Having my first "pick" for Sunday lunch! :D

All I've read about picking sweetcorn says to minimize the time between picking and cooking for maximum sweetness.

Haven't counted but there must be about 20 cobs. Just picked two today for dinner.

Nice work! They may still grow more ears, if the plants are healthy enough and the weather holds.

We took a steep drop towards autumn yesterday, and it's not encouraging. The butternut squash are just setting fruit, and there're a lot more melons to ripen... [face_worried]

My pepper and tomato bonanza is coming to an end. I've put banana and poblano and green bell peppers in basically everything I've cooked for the past 2 weeks.

I dried the really hot peppers in the oven overnight for 8 hours and made dried pepper flakes of near-lethal potency. Habanero plus ghost plus cayenne. Three full spice jars of pepper flakes.

Also, I did not wear a gas mask when I ground them, so I nearly made my self sick with pepper lung. It was a fantastic experience. Lungs burning. Eyes watering. coughing and wheezing. Can't wait to do it again.

You need to do something with them - don't let the birds have them all..

They are in greenhouse (with tomatos) so should be safe from birds.

That's good. I have a myrtle bush that gets its share of blackbirds in the winter.

Holy ****, I have never seen a bean that long. You should hang it on a wall. Don't eat it or anything.

I've never gardened in my life but I'm about to get a garden and - as someone who loves vegetables and eats 3 times as much as a human - I'll be keen to get started.

I may have some really dumb questions over the next few months.
