Never heard of Trove but then I never go to Levenshulme

Whenever I've seen Northern Soul I've always thought maybe next time.

I'm in Manchester tomorrow, maybe tomorrow could be next time.

Oh and for a Cheese Toastie, it has to be medium cheddar

"Velveeta" doesn't sound like cheese, does it? Sounds like some failed exfoliating cream. Maybe it was, and they had the domain name anyway.

In case you run into another Northerner?

Locking the doors won't help you against another northerner. They'll just jack your car, take your tyres and run.

@Diggy We had some glorious sunshine yesterday, which in the north of England is about as common as getting a glimpse of a majestic unicorn. So I took advantage of it and went on a quest to find The Trove. It's tucked away in an easily missed spot, I walked past it twice without realising it.

Despite being a cramped little place that was in the midst of the lunch rush, I was able to get a seat, and I ordered tea smoked salmon with pickled shallots, labneh and radishes on a slice of toast. Now, I don't usually engage in photographing my food, but when it was served I had to take a snap of it to illustrate just how amazing the quality of what it was I had been served was.

Whoever told you that The Trove was amazing is absolutely on point. It was the best lunch I've had in ages, and the bread is so good that I'm going to order one of their sourdough kits off of their webpage when it's back in stock.

There is certainly no way in hell that I would let such fantastic bread get combined with peasant food like medium cheddar.

Excellent, Chew. Next time I’m home I’ll have to try and make a stop there.

Could you imagine living in some sort of third world hellhole that only has bad bread?

My neighbor from Canada brought it back from her trip home to Toronto. They don't sell it in the states.

Had one of the best grilled cheese ever at a local restaurant. Called an Irish Grilled Cheese (it's an Irish pub type restaurant) with Irish cheddar, thick applewood smoked bacon, roasted garlic aioli, fresh spinach and tomatoes served on grilled wheat. Sooo damn good.

I've only been actively researching this topic for a month, and my lab journals are incomplete, but in general the grilled ham and cheese sandwich in all its forms is better than the grilled cheese sandwich in any of its iterations.

    Easy solution: add ham
