JCC The JCC Watches Movies! (this Friday night... STREET FIGHTER: THE MOVIE!)

I feel like too many people I hated got out of that movie alive (read: literally any humans) for that to have been the goal.

 

After two weeks on a row with hilarious movies, I guess it was time for a stinker.

We should go with a known quantity next week. Any ideas? Tammy and the T-Rex is always there, of course, but I also found a channel with basically every non-successful Troma movie ever (yes, that includes the Confederate zombies, Ramza.)

 

This is what happens when you watch movies without me.

 

I cannot in good conscience endorse Curse of the Cannibal Confederates. It sounds funnier than it is.

 

So this might technically qualify as too good for JCC movie nights but if you're familiar with it or the source material you know the premise is pretty wild and it has a lot of solid B movie conceits. Also it's up in HD.

 

Tonight we are celebrating the success of Wonder Woman with a movie that has nothing to do with it!

Whitley Strieber goes with his family and some friends to his holiday home in the forest. They experience some weird occurances, are they UFO activity? Whitley is abducted and then faces a horrible dilema; was I abducted or am I going mad? He sees a psychiatrist who tries to use hypnotic regression to discover the truth.

A movie universally panned based on the "autobiographical" novel that first popularized the concept of alien abductions? The movie where the footage of that Posadism parody video that get often posted in the channel came from? Christopher Walken making out with an alien!?? IT'S POSSIBLE!

I couldn't take it. Movie was too horrible. I watched The Big Lebowski on HBO instead.

The entire ROTS "Backstroke of the West" is on youtube, and it's the version where the subtitled lines have been dubbed - and the voices are almost perfect*. I think it could be a goodie for our club.

* Except, oddly, Yoda. Who can't do a half assed Yoda impression?

 

I love Backstroke of the West.

 

I would willingly break my vow to never watch the Prequels again for this.

 

Backstroke of the West is definitely comedy gold.

 

I re-read some of this thread because I miss watching movies with you so much. If the Little Princess gives me the free-time I am super on board to do another movie with you all.

I would save Backstroke for some special date (idk Hayden's birthday or whatever) and watch something non-prequel-related this weekend. I'm even willing to watch Cannibal Ferox for @Ramza's sake. It's been on the roulette since forever.

 

Admittedly I am always in the mood for Cannibal Ferox.

 

The problem with saving Backstroke is it may get pulled off YouTube by Disney at any moment.
